We have just received a call from Johanna Vardon of the National Foaling Bank. For reasons we can't publicly disclose at the moment (legal reasons) the National Foaling Bank is on the point of closure. A charity ball is being held on 29th November to raise urgent funds. There is an auction of fantastic promises, not all equine related, including a villa for a week abroad, clothes, nominations to top class stallions etc etc.
Details are on www.crownball.org
If anyone can either donate prizes/promises, or attend the ball, tickets are 70 each or 650 for a table of ten. Please support the most worthwhile charity going as breeders. Don't know if you all know, but Johanna is available 24/7/365 to help, and having used the Bank ourselves in the past, it really is an amazing, and much needed source of help, support and advice.
Sorry if this seems like advertising, it really isn't but all of us on here, as small or large breeders could need the Foaling bank at any time, and it is something we CANNOT afford to lose.
If anyone wants a table together, we are trying to scrape enough to go, so would be willing to share a table - how about an Arabian Lines table - also a fab way to meet other forum users at the same time as raising funds for a very important cause. We'll probably be the ones sleeping in the horsebox (freezing!) outside the hotel....

It would be great if Admin made this a 'sticky'. How sad if we were to lose the National Foaling Bank! I'd love to come to the ball and join an AL table, however it is a very long way from Hampshire and I'm not sure if it's feasible as yet. |

Would be a real shame if it closes, but its quite a large one off donation, rather than some other form of sponsorship where individuals can collect similar amount by doing some stunt or other. The expertise can't be got back once its lost, does anyone have any other ideas that could raise some cash? If I'm not mistaken the North wales group have a sale event that night, maybe a small percent of that could be donated, or ask sellers to donate a per cent of sale prices. |

Hi. I have been thinking about this. How about if we all send a quick flyer to the stud yards, racing yards and vets in your home town, they all use the foaling bank. And i am sure that they would want to save it. Sam, i can do minster, battleflats etc and can send one to mel brittians. And if anyone has a connection to weatherby's they might be a good organisation to start, they might even send the flyers round to the trainers, and how about all the horse societies? surely they can get the word out about this. It would be such a shame if this closed due to lack of funds, someone somewhere will need them soon enough. |

Channel 4 Racing often mention NFB - worth getting in touch with them? Sheikh Mohammed etc etc - it would be a mere drop in the ocean for them to donate enough to save it ... |
