Rhos Emblem, a beautiful black 4yr old pony won the 148cms show pony class at HOYS.
There are lots of Anglo and parts competing, and hopefully I'll be able to get all results as soon as possible.

She is by Derwent Rainbow Bandit (Kilvington Scoundrel x Chesswood Indigo Bird by Whalton Touch O the Blues) out of Rhos Eloise (Walstead Composer x Gunnerby Aalborg Elegant). She is absolutely beautiful. |

Who says the Anglos and Part-breds aren't out there flying the flag and getting recognition for it? Keep it up. Do you know the owner and rider please Lynda? Also any other AA/PB's who were at HOYS?

Per the programme, Rhos Emblem is brown gelding (although he did look black under the lights and was stunning) bred by Mrs J Godden, owned by Mr Harvey and Mrs Brewis and ridden by Rebecca Harvey. This pony went on to win the final, the kids think the 12.2hh Barkway Frivolity stood reserve but we had been there nearly 13hrs by then... I also keep looking at Pippa Allen's jumping pony Farouk Van de Schanshoeve and thinking how PBA he looks - although it could, of course, be through welsh. The programme doesn't show his breeding. The Champion and Reserve in the Intermediate show riding type were both Part-breds. Champion was Paschal High Flyer, and Reserve was Faranella Valencia. The show pont reserve was Kolbeach Holly's Diamond.....hopefully more to come. There were quite a few hacks that were Part-bred and a few Riding horses that compete tomorrow. |

Fantastic!! Proof again...Anglo and Part Bred Arab Horses and Ponies, can hold their own and Win at the Country`s most prestigeous Show. Year in, year out, accross a variety of HOYS classes, Part Bred and Anglos are there in the final line ups but then, they do have that little `extra` both in presence and paces.
Do hope the Arabian News magazines makes a pont of giving these winners and highly placed `ambassadors" the credit they deserve
Well done to all concerned

High Fidelity was 9th in the Small ISRT and she's only 4. Produced by the same team as the Show Pony and ISRT champions, she is out of Country Code, the part bred mare who was supreme ridden champion at Malvern in 2002.
ETA She was also Reserve Novice Hack Champion and winner of both the Cherif class and the Young Hack class at the BSHA National Championships! |

Faranella Valencia who was the reserve int champion is by Fairlyn Gemini out of a 14.2hh black show pony mare by Celtic Ballard. She was bred by the late Bernadette Ellam and her daughter Louise Farington. We had the mare on livery and she has a full sister. The winning 15hh hunter pony last year was also by Gemini (Hampton Fair and square) but as the breeder didnt pay her bill the pony isnt registered PBA ! |

Congrats to Julia Topham-Barnes. Not only did Julia breed Derwent Rainbow Bandit (Kilvington Scoundrel x Chesswood Indigo Bird) who sired the 14.2 HOYS Pony of the Year, but also his half brother Derwent Soldiers Tale HOYS 13.2 Show Pony Of The Year (by Keston Tribune x Chesswood Indigo Bird) Both these Ponies being Part Bred Arabs. AGAIN proof that Part Bred Arabs can win at the Ultimate Show,.....every Breeders` ambition
What a fitting tribute to Chesswood Indigo Bird, who sadly died last October, carrying her 8th Foal. Her legacy lives on through her outstanding offspring
Well Done Julia and your Derwent Ponies, flying the flag for Part Bred Arabs

It has just been brought to my notice that the Part-bred Pashal High Flyer, owned by S&H Broome, bred by Mr.R.Lucas and ridden by Martin Skelton, as well as being Ch. in the Intermediate Show Riding Type at HOYS, (losing only one point for ride and four for conformation) was also 3rd in the Large Hacks.
This horse is by the PB stallion Kizar (advertised on the A/PB Stallion section),the only son of King's Flight standing at stud ex a TB cross mare.
Double well done and thankyou to the person who in telling me made my Monday morning.
