Hi,
Can anyone advise me on which bit I should use on my mare?
She is ridden in a Dr Cook bitless bridle when the kids are on her, (so they don't mess about with her mouth), or I'm just hacking about.

I ride her in either a french-link or ordinary snaffle, which she doesn't mind, but I 'feel' that she is not entirely happy with. She has a very sensitive mouth and is very responsive. The only problem, is that she tends to put her tongue over the bit, sometimes at speed, which is a bit scary!!!

I don't want to go down the route of flash straps, etc... I want her to be comfortable, happy and safe. She has no problems with her teeth. Sorry, that was a bit of an epic!!
Many thanks.

Hi Sandra,
I've found hanging cheek(filet baucher) bits are effective in preventing this problem.

I love the Myler bits. They have different check pieces and mouth pieces,
depending how far with the training you are and what you are doing.

Me too - would cheerfully recommend one to anyone whose Arab does this.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
Bit thick when it comes to bits, so can someone explain this bit (a bit more!!)
Does it purely act against the horse putting it's tongue over the bit?
The myler bits - are they worth the extra? Do myler make them in 4.5" and can you try before you buy? How much?
I'm nervous about buying a bit off the internet as I was once told that many of the bits tend to pinch or are not perfect.
Thanks.
