Does anyone know if there was one in Rhydri, it's where my old mare supposedly come from can't seem to find any trace of it anymore. Or does anyone know what stud it could have been. Her passport name is Rhydri Tarina but I've lost her passport now.
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated Thanks

Is this her registered Arab name, as she's not listed on all breeds..can you add her there...her breeding just might give us a clue...and the year of birth could also help..... Sue |

There is a place in Wales called Rudry - not sure if this is anything to do with Rhydri apart from the fact that Rudry could be the 'english' version of Rhydri.. (may sound odd to you English people, but Cardiff is english for Caerdydd!!!) Dont know of any arab studs in this area though, but its a rural place with lots of horsey properties in it.
Good luck anyway Kate |

I remember Christine Dobson having an arab stallion named Kopek in the late seventies/early eighties. She married Clive Howells and they are in Rudry (the link on Kates post)If this is a part bred or pure bred it is very likely she may be able to tell you more. jane |

I remember KOPEK well. He belonged to Christine Dobson and was a lovely grey stallion.
Is your mare pure bred or part bred? If part bred she may have come from Mark Tamplin's yard in Rudry. Mark is well know in the Welsh pony showing and breeding circles. Rani Tarina was the late Marcy Pavord's endurance mare. I don't think this mare is related to yours.

Kopek was her sire does anyone have any pictures of him? Celia why do you think she isn't related to her?. Do you know what colour she was?. I have a picture of her as a foal with her dam. |

I don't know of any pictures of Kopek but maybe if you got in touch with Christine she may have some. Actually I can't remember why I though your mare was not related to Rani Tarina but she was chestnut. I have a friend who knew Marcy so I will ask her about Rani Tarina.

As far as we know, Rani Tarina only bred one foal, Tawmarsh Rojo, by Imad. My friend said Joe must be about 12 now and she knew the mare for about 10 years before Joe was born so your mare must be 20+ years if Tarina had a foal before she came to Marcy. I still feel your best line of enquiry would be Christine and you might be able to contact her via Clive Howells. I think there is a picture of her in Marcy Pavord's book, Endurance Start to Finish. My friend said she had a white blaze and she can't remember any white legs. I hope that helps |

My family had my mare from a two y/o onwards she was PTS at 33 2 years ago so I think it may be a possibility. Will dig out the picture to see if her dam had a blaze. And thank you, you've been really helpfull |
