There has been several posts recently about arabs doing dressage so I thought I would share my story from last night. I attended an affiliated dressage competition with a highly listed judge (list 3 I think) ie very experienced to do novice and elementary tests. Now my purebred gelding is 20 and did endurance in the 90s until a bad bout of pneumonia retired him to his field for 7 years until the end of last year when I started riding him again and we started doing a few dressage tests this summer. After our second test last night, the judge got out of his car and called us over to say what a super chap my boy was, a lovely horse, etc etc. Best of all during our discussion, never once did he utter the immortal words "for an arab"! He gave us some pointers saying there were more marks to gain and considering we got 62-63% for both tests, I thought that was pretty good. So, there are good judges out there who judge what they see, are not prejudiced and can see past the big warmbloods to my small, skinny, hairy arab. Hope for us all!
