Soon it will be time ..
Who has what why and your reason?
I always did full clip being lazy.. less grooming with less time being darker
I am going just for trace clips again this year as found last year with the full clip had them wrapped up to the nines but with just a trace clip it was enough to keep them clean ! also was enough for them not to sweat enen after the gallops!! but they were happier in mid weight rugs..

I have used a home made design the last few years. Clip diagonally from the whither to stifel, taking off the front half and leaving hair on the quaters. Works well even when working fairly hard. She only wore
one medium weight rug last winter, saving money on washing and reproofing.

Up until about 2 years ago my 18 year old Arab had a full clip, but I left the legs on and the front of the face. Now she is getting older, she has a blanket clip.
My business is alot busier in the summer than winter, so generally, I ride alot more in the winter months.
Reason to clip: easier to dry & keep clean. She does sweat alot if not clipped.

I only clip Ollie once at the end of January to get rid of the winter coat. It drives me crazy trying to get it all out and I wind up eating it for 3 weeks, I'd rather get it all off in an hour. He doesn't make a lot of winter coat either so I generally don't have to worry much about him sweating for what I do with him. This works well for us but it would obviously depend on what your exercise/show regime was.

My boy has cushings and gets very hot and a seemingly double coat ( although never long or curly!)

I clip it all off except his legs and have to re clip once a month until january then I'm scrubbing his leg lines out in May still !
