I'm Not.....

Not had chance to have much of a summer. Got to do all the jobs now before it gets too cold and wet,

Move the muck heap.....
Tend to all repairs.......
Mow the feilds......
fencing......
Weeding.......

Not to mention the poor horses

Oh and I'm moving into a new flat in two weeks.......

The list goes on.

Thinking of having a muck heap party.

Some people have Ann Summers, Tupperware and Avon parties. The difference is all previous parties mean you spend money.
At a muck heap party you give the stuff away!!!!

Just thought I'd share my idea.....

Happy winter months to all and I am looking forward to next year.

Can't bear it . Today was so absolutely perfect, sunny, still and picture perfect over the fields with everyone bringing their crops in. I loathe the idea of freezing rain, dark nights and everything dank and dead . Mind you I do love Christmas !

I'm afraid I'm with Gossy. I love the winter. Actually I love all the seasons, but I love cold, winter days and the satisfied feeling at the end of it of leaving everyone warm, rugged, cosy and well fed.

No hate it! With a passion. Unless its one of those really crisp, blue sky days where the ground is hard and no mud! Those days are lovely!

No need to wait for the winter were still having it not really had a good summer with so much rain..
I like several others have a untidy yard where for the first time we have not had the oppertunity time weather wise to get sorted properly for winter..
I am hoping now in the next couple of weeks farmer next door can find the time to trim our hedges as our cars are getting scratched severly by the over grown briers in the hedges fields and on the drive!!
As regards junk mine is all gone ripped all the mangers out of stables as never use them and horses use them as scratch post ripping their rugsso had a bonfire !!which got rid of everything!!
Being in the middle of no where it was great..
Apple trees now in orchard will have to be picked but crop this year not as good as ever before can see there are plenty but the quality of them this year poor down to lousey weather..
As regards to the darker nights coming i feel quite depressed already knowing most of us have had a terrible summer..
Chins up everybody we can get through this but then we got no choice!!

What beautiful photographs from Lynda & SueB, I don't enjoy the winter - I just hate the dark morning & evenings but when you see photos like those above, well it makes you realise just how lovely every season is - my personal favourite is Spring with everything bursting into life, foals arriving and the shows to look forward to
can't beat that

I love cold, crisp days - especially riding out, when your and your horses' breath steams and that lovely sweaty horse smell when you get in. But the mud and wet - and cold feet? No thanks!!

I quite like the winter, it takes me back to when I was 12 and used to ride out in any weather and i'd be out all day long gone for hours, I swear my poor pony was knackered at the end of the day!!
I love those crisp winter days, trotting along the lanes and the frost, your horses breath and the stark Tree's and dead leaves, I like the quietness of winter aswell, fewer cars around and fewer people, I love it.

I'd just like a good cold SNAP to get rid of the flies... the I'd be happy

Winter makes no difference to me really, my full liveries choose to have their horses in at night all year round

My boys just change form out at night in the summer in during the day to the other way round

So the work is no different really, but I'm not over keen on being permanently wet

I'm looking forward to this winter (kind of) as I have new girly arriving (hopefully), plus get to spend hours drooling over stid cards, deciding on Crystal's hubby for next year.......and got loads planned to keep me occupied (winter dressage, winter showing, daft stuff) and that should help keep me going till next spring, when I start planning my showing campaign!

Love those cold, crisp, blue sky, frosty days, but hate it when we have crappy days, wind and rain really gets me peeved!

I don't mind winter. The only bit I don't like is getting up in the dark. I also like to know they are all tucked up when its horrible outside.

Sadly I think nature is letting us know something is up. My swallows have gone - 5 weeks earlier than last year. They only had three broods instead of 4. All mine have winter coats growing and Ailsa need clipping already!

Listen to nature - a horrible winter is on its way.

I love the snow pics, but where I am we get mostly rain. You can see the snow but just can't touch it!!!!

Mike Johnson knows what I mean. The side of Manchester/Bolton where I live is very wet indeed during the winter months.

Although saying that I believe them in South Wales are having a torrid time at the minute!!!!

I'm dreading it slightly less than other years as I have the ponies 5mins up the road rather than 45mins to 1hr away and I am going to look at some rubber matting tomorrow to try and ease bedding issues so hopefully make winter a lot more plesant
