We are creating a paddock from scratch in front of our stables and I just wondered if any of you could recommend what grass seed to use. The paddock will be mainly ornamental, but once established I am planning to graze a few of our sheep in there and possibly Wilma the shetland - Wilma and the sheep do pretty well on fresh air so keen not to seed it with a grass that is too rich/lush.
I was advised to get 'pony paddock' i think one bag does about an acre about £30 can't really comment as being a complete novice i spread it but never harrowed after consequently the next few days were very,very windy so blew under the hedge row stupid me was also wondering why there were soooo many birds mainly pigions in my field they thought it was christmas.
most feed merchants sell various grass mix...depends on what you want and what kind of soil you have etc l expect they will advise you on what is best for your area
There is a website called thegrassseedstore or something similar. They have a horse paddock mix without rye grass and the bloke is really helpful if you need advice
