I'm looking for any info/pics of Amboseli (Taqah/Saera) - who is the sire of my 22year old gelding - Heatherfield Tsar. He (Tsar)had to be reg as part bred, as dam (Soona PBAR VIII) was not considered of sufficient quality to be classed as PB when she was imported into the UK. Would also love to talk to anyone who also has one of Amboseli's offspring!

Super - thanks, hopefully she might see my message. That would make sense, as Tsar was bred by Mrs M J Brown,Bordon in Hampshire, so Amboseli would have been local. |

that would be fabulous - do you know anything about Amboseli? colour, size etc? do you know if he is still alive? think he would be 30ish now. |

hi again...have emailed Di
he was a bright chestnut.. not that big 14.3 maybe...but looked bigger as he had a very impressive trot, and was the kind of horse that made an impression...was pretty old when l saw him..four white sox..very long flowing mane and tail over his back....sired some good riding horses....this was a good 12 years ago [plus] so l doubt if he is still around, but l expect Di will know.. l also would think some one has pictures, l am sure l have seen some...also think Di had offspring!

thanks so much - i did send Di a quick mail too, but that info is fabulous. Tsar is a very special little horse, and although i did speak to his breeder years ago, i've lost touch with her - and never had the chance to get to meet Amboseli or see if i can find out more about the first six years of Tsar's life, which i missed out on! |

Hi Elspeth, Just read this thread and see that Ash has pointed you in the right direction to find out about Amboseli's sire and dam. Taqah was a very important stallion of the Harwood Stud and there have been many prize winning stock by him. My friend Alice Keet had him but unfortunately she did not show him; but he was used on various mares and Alice bred my own 100% Crabbet Stallion, El Sharluke (1981 - 2004) ex Senadiha (Sengoran/Wadiah). Mrs. Brown was a friend of Alice's and I guess that is how your boy was bred by her. If you email me then I can send you some pics of El Sharluke, but I do not have any of Amboseli. Possibly Alice is the only one who may have some. |

Ash - thanks so much for your help with this. As soon as you said Harwood stud, this rang a bell - and i realised that i had been living in Brighton (just down the road from Horsham) for the last twelve years, but not made the connection re: Tsar's breeding. i probably could have visited Amboseli at any time.... how frustrating. your mention of the huge stride made me laugh - Tsar is only 14,2hh, but has the most enormous extended trot that even a 17,1hh horse cannot keep up with unless they break into canter. At least i now know he gets it from his dad!

actually the Keets lived in the Liphook area, but Harwood was just outside Worthing...moved now
Di's stallion Luke who is sadly no longer with us had a huge stride too...not a big horse but he could move and again he sired some very good stock over the years, all good riding horses
small world ain't it?

certainly is - having spoken to Di, i've established that she had Roselinda (Tsar's half sister) until very recently (another opportunity i've missed), but hope to go visit her next week so as to make up for lost time...
Interestingly i also have a gelding out of Psychedelic (Padrons Psyche), and Di's Russian mare was put to Tobago, out of Psytadel (Padrons Psyche) - so as you say, small world....!
Do you happen to know anything about a stallion Mahwardi Ibn Sennari? Sire of a grey mare owned by friend of mine. Father very famous Ak El Sennari, but then the trail seems to go cold. |
