I just thought I would ask the fountain of all knowledge.... does anyone know a good online insurance co that can insure immediately (well so I can collect a new horse tomorrow)...
I have been looking at a policy through Horse Insurance which is underwritten by E & L (of course I know lots of people say avoid them)
Still plodding on through the online search, but would just like to know if anyone can recommend a good, REASONABLE priced one (tried Petplan and Stoneways already....
Hope this is ok to put on here - I have no intention of advertising, just I am stuck and need to sort urgently today ... please help!!!
Thanks Adele

I was with NFU but when renewal came up this year, went to Scottish Equestrian as they were cheaper and you can pay monthly without being charged for credit. Would thoroughly recommend them.

I also use Scottish Equestrian for horses and trailer. They are very reasonable. They have changed their name to Equestrian World Insurance Services. Tel 0141 427 7722
Hope this helps |

l am currantly with petplan which offered me the best deal last time l was seeking to insure..they did it instantly via the internet gave me the best deal and were by far the cheepest [by over 100 pounds] l do think you have to shop around l was with E & L for a while.. but then they stoped giving me a discount for additional horses and wanted each horse [7] to have a seperate policy with different standing orders...this got to be very confusing espesially as one horse went and they kept taking the money for it..then the wrong policy got cancelled...too compicated
so l went to petplan...all ok so far

I'm with NFU and can't fault them Many of my friend's are with Scottish Equestrian and would recommend using them Avoid E&L at all costs! Never heard anyone say anything positive about them |

I use Petplan, I was given a great tip when looking for insurance, to ring and ask you vet you normally use to recommend an insurance company, and ask which companies settle bills without problems. i did this and my vet said Petplan and to aviod E & L as they were bad payers. I also rang another vet and asked the same questions and they said the same. |

I have just insured a 16 year old mare that I have on breeding loan, I went to NFU as other horses are insured with them, but they would only insure for £250.00, their policy I was told because of her age, i could get her valued and they would put it to their ombudsman, if I felt she was worth more. Thats not even meat money!. I have now insured her with Pet Plan, online for her proper worth, and a much better deal all round, so much so I am going to change my other horses over to PetPlan when they are due for renewal. We have ours with SEIB - instant cover when you apply online and always found them reasonable. |

A lady on our livery yard was with E&L, her previous horse sadly had severe laminitus and had to be PTS. She had full cover with E&L and it took over 12months for them to pay out. This naturally added to the distress she was already suffering from losing her boy. Her words, never again, her new horse is insured with Scottish Equestrian.
