OH came home tonight with a new house guest a beautiful baby pipistrelle bat
there's a few disagreements over a name I like Bertie but OH wants to call IT Nora anyway, Bertie has just tucked into a meal of full fat cows milk fed via a small wick made of kitchen roll, then he had a good crawl about and is now safely tucked away in a cat proof box We're hoping his stay with us will be short and that we can get him to the 'bat lady' very soon

Hi Lynn, What a sweety. Our cats have caught two bat's lately, both died. I hate my cats for catching them, I rather have them catch rats. Monique |

heard this morning on the radio - some woman took her undies off the line and promptly put on her bra. On the way to work she thought she felt a vibration but decided it was her mobile phone. Later that morning at work she felt a bit strange. Went to toilet for a looksee and found a small bat in her bra. Now I quite like bats but the thought of one in my bra Aaaaaagggghhhhhhhhhhh . Made me laugh quite a lot i do wonder if its a real story.
Loving the bat by the way. |

I have had two grown up bats (also Pippistrelles) fly into my house on separate occasions through the open windows a couple of summers ago - you remember when we used to have summers warm enough to open windows wide. However I didn't know they were there on either occasion until late at night I went into the bathroom, turned on the light and suddenly it was if Dracular had flown in . Little bats look VERY BIG when they flapping round your ears in artificial light! I couldn't catch them as whenever they settled and went quiet their beady eyes kept looking at me when I approached and they shot off each time. However the bat people were very good and came out and rescued them (and me) even though it was late at night. The cats thought it was all very interesting . |

Er hum..."Bertie" is about 1.5cm in length and span and is absolutely perfect, he has the cutest face (Aletha they are very dog like to look at)and he clicks when his milk is coming...how cool is that Having had fruit bats swooping at me in Mozambique this little guy doesn't bother me at all, he's hopefully getting transfered to a bat sanctuary where his chances will be far better and he'll have lots of companions
Edited to add Bertie is a Nora apparently bats are very well endowedSHE has 2 others of a similar age to play with and has settled really well with "The Bat Lady" |
