Seen this on another site and thought you might be interested. Not class as an advert i hope cause its in america.
http://habitatforhorses.org/adoptahorse/vaquaro.html
this was him before http://www.straightegyptians.com/forum2/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=76339
Mixed veiws on the other website about him.
Shame
this is what the owner said
Hello all,
I am the breeder of Thee Vaquaro and I am as distressed as all of you at the horrible treatment of this special boy. We sold him about 7 years ago to a couple in San Antonio and I think what happened was that neither of them could keep a job and they ran off to Ft. Worth leaving Vaquaro behind where they had been boarding him. The woman that nearly starved him to death was probably the one that kept him in lieu of the unpaid board bill. I don't mind coming right out and saying this; as a stallion as nice as he is should have had a better ending. Hopefully someone will give him a good home; I wish I could but we just aren't set up for stallions/geldings.
Vaquaro did very well in the halter arena, he was Jr. Champion colt at the Beaumont Spindletop show, Top 3 at the Egyptian Event and Champion at San Antonio. He had professional training with Buck Grass of Houston and Kim Potts of Pilot Point. Too bad he had to be gelded as he was definately stallion quality. I think he has one registered foal on the ground but there may be others.
I want to thank the numerous people that contacted me about Vaquaro (Cowboy is what we called him) and I appreciate the nice compliaments on his breeding and quality. It is heartbreaking to see a horse you bred and loved be so mistreated. Thank Heaven he was rescued and I hope that terrible woman gets what she deserves.

Poor lad, i hope he finds a kind home. There is absolutely no excuse for the starvation and abuse of animals.

That is so sad, and I would love to say "only in the USA", but unfortunately this is not true
People must be so uncaring to just abandon a horse, regardless of how lovely 'it' is. Makes me really mad

Firstly thank you for posting this Martine. Poor poor horse.
Secondly, the words... "Too bad he had to be gelded" "Hopefully someone will give him a good home" Hopefully? Hopefully? If ever there was a word in the English language so woefully inadequate. Makes me sick .

Poor horse is so right!! If he used to be mine I would go and get him, not mention "nice compliments on his breeding." Hopefully, as they are "not set up for stallions/geldings" they are not breeding anymore. |

I just don't understand how someone who keeps horses cannot be set up for a gelding? Easiest of the bunch if they have lost the stallion traits. |

I cannot see how the breeder of this poor horse can be "heartbroken". Like others I dont see why a gelding would be hard to accommodate when it is a horse you have bred yourself. No doubt the horse was sold for a substantial figure, so to my mind as his breeder she owes this horse a secure future. Crocodile tears I think.

I know to be honest makes you wonder if hes better put to sleep.
On another forum they were saying that his problems/injuries could be breeding defects of from halter classes as they can tip them over apparently. Maybe they were done and thats why the owner wrote that statement!
Rehomed twice is a joke! How many more years will he spend being passed around!!
Someone give him a rest. such a shame x Looks a nice boy too.
Thank God hes gelded otherwise there might be 100 more of these! |
