School should not be a problem, one famous part bred producer never used one, did all their schooling out on hacks!
My mare when she was on loan just had electic tape marking a working area, she got a reserve ridden championship and denoviced at her third show.
paddock managment, echo what Rosanne said, just use one for winter turnout choose the one that gets least muddy and be ruthless about not allowing them in the others.
congrats on finding what we all think must be perfect you are very lucky indeed. |

Sounds fantastic! Schooling in the paddocks is perfectly possible, I always used to do it until I eventually moved to somewhere with a school. I manage 4 horses on around 2 acres for 7 months of the year on the small yard I rent (I have a bigger winter field) and I haev enough grass for them with careful management. }
Good luck |

Thanks everyone - you are all very encouraging! Having tried to lunge Dulcie last night in the school at my current diy yard I realised why I hadn't bothered for the last few weeks... the sand was dangerously deep and we'd have been better in a field! I don't get to ride in it much as there are too many deep bits and its very narrow - neither horses like being worked on the sand, it's very unstable. I will miss exercising them on dark evenings but it will be a nice break to just hack over the winter and take life a bit easier.
I am visiting the yard again on Friday and will have a closer look at each of the paddocks. I need to come up with a good rotation system and stick to it.
I'm glad you all think it is exciting...I can't wait. I realised the other evening as a new livery was having a go at me about Dulcie chasing her mare (she and Gretel have been out on their own for ages and a new mare has been put in the field - I wasn't even told they were arriving) that my recent thoughts on giving up on horses was not actually to do with my horses at all, it was the people on yards that cause me stress! My husband agrees which is why he also thinks it is a good idea |

So pleased to hear that you've found somewhere - it sounds absolutely lovely!
Also, with the scabs, much easier to manage if you're on your own yard |
