Yes I have the dreaded tooth ache. It's just the one tooth and its REALLY sensitive to hold and cold - as well as having that wonderful pounding pulse right underneath it. Luckily I managed to get an appointment at my dentist on Thurday but I have to suffer until then!

Ibroprofen & paracetamol taken together is the only thing that ever took the edge off my tooth-ache. Clove Oil rubbed onto the offending tooth is supposed to be effective...but all it ever did was make me drool! I feel for you, its HORRID..hope you get it sorted on Thursday |

oooooo lots of sympathy for you!! A few months ago I had it so bad I just resorted to dosing myself up with vodka in the evenings to help me sleep through it!! |

If its getting worse go to your dentist tomorrow for the emergency appointments, whether they can fit you in or not!! Brandy helps! |

Ooh Lindsay, sympathy in abundance for you, nothing worse than toothache (well there is but you know what I mean). Makes you sort of appreciate babies crying when they are cutting teeth. Hope you can hang on till tomorrow.
Sorry Nutter but laughing at the tooth swallowing - don't know why I'm laughing cos I chipped my brand new veneer a few weeks ago after I'd only had it done a couple of days - very expensive night out at the pub that turned out to be. Getting new one next week - a real pain in the wallet. |

all of the above which has been suggest also though
Oil of Cloves - rub that round the gum and tooth. Bit of an old fashioned remedy but it does help sometimes. |

I would totally agree with the Vodka and Brandy (not necessarily mixed unless you are desperate) and possibly not a good idea if you are doing the drug cocktail too!! And I agree Merlot, toothache has got to be the worst possible pain, completely distracting and unyielding.
But, just spare a thought for my poor 13yo son. He had a brace fitted yesterday, so he had a gobfull of achey teeth - bless!!!
Hope you get your nasty tooth sorted very soon Lindsay.

Aww poor you!! I would quite frankly rather give birth and I didnt do that too well! Orajel sounds fantastic, will have to try and remember that. My son had some awful abcesses last year one after the other it nearly drove him mad. He used to pack the whole area around the tooth with frozen chips. Disgusting I know but when you are in so much pain anything that gives relief is welcome. He used to change them as soon as they started to thaw. Poor lad, it was the only way he got any sleep. |

Thanks everyone. I have been to the dentist and the words 'root' and 'canal' were mentioned in the same sentence -
Got to the dentist and as these things go thought I was feeling better. He tapped my tooth and I almost wnet through the roof. Ah that's the sore on he said SMILING he then drilled out my old filling and replaced it with a temporary one to see if that fixes it. If not the dreaded root canal treatment is looming on the horizon.
Wish me luck that things don't have to go THAT far. x |
