A couple of months ago a friend said she`d take my mare along with her gelding down to Royal Cornwall show. I bought Jazz some new travellers ,tail guard etc & i rang this friend before the entries closed & asked if she`d entered him & she said yes, then i asked her if she`d got the number , tickets etc 2 weeks ago & she said she hadn`t but she was sure they`d be on their way to her ! I spoke to her 2 days before the show & she was telling me which bridle she was showing him in etc. Then at 5pm thursday evening she rings me up & tells me that both of her 4WD`s were not up to towing as they are unreliable My daughter went mad & suggested that we still drive down to the show with her boyfriend & my mum so i rang this friend back & asked if i could have her 2 complimentry tickets so we could all get in for free . She said she`d drop them around that evening & then said "oh... my inlaws want to go to the show so i said they could have them" ....well fair enough i thought & left it . Unfortunately we got stuck in traffic for the last 10 miles so didn`t get to the show until 12.30 so missed the Arab classes. Anyway i bought a catalogue & i couldn`t believe it ....this so called "friend" hadn`t even entered her gelding in the PBA class so for the last 6 weeks she`d lied to me about entering him & even lied about having the complimentry tickets you get with your entry the night before! Did she honestly think i`d never find out ? She`d have to get out of bed a whole lot earlier to fool me ! I txt her & said funny how Ed isn`t entered in the class , enough said eh ? 3 hrs later she replied with "i still would have taken you if my truck was working " I find it unbelievable ,if she took me to the show she would have had to tell me she hadn`t entered him surely ? Well i never replied as i can`t stand liars & who needs "friends like that in their life ?
I was the one who put in touch with his breeder , picked up the 2 Palominos she bought & brought them down to Devon from Wiltshire ,advised her how to feed a weaned foal etc ,gave her lessons on inhand showing & i took her to the shows when he was a yearling .(including Malvern ) I always helped friends out who didn`t have transport when i had a lorry but i have been on my own 6 yrs & cant afford to keep a lorry . Poor Jazz hasn`t been to a show for 2 yrs now & we were so looking forward to taking her ,i`d pulled her mane & got her looking lovely & i felt so depressed & very angry when she let me down , 12 hrs notice didn`t really give me time to find alternative transport ! I have done her plenty of favours over the years & didn`t deserve to be both let down & lied to ....Oh well another one so called friend bites the dust eh ....i dont suffer fools !

I don't blame you for feeling let down. I would have been hopping mad in your place. I think we've all been caught like that at some time and it leaves a very nasty taste in your mouth. If I lived closer I'd have taken you. Chin up though girlie. Onward and upward. |

Don't blame you for being decidedly miffed - but if she is THAT unreliable.... do you really want her driving your beloved horses on long distances and in new situations???
You've done all the work now (coditioning, training, trimming etc) so find a good old fashioned village show and all go, as a family and ENJOY your horse and being with your horse |

I guess i trusted her as she took my yearling down to Royal Cornwall last year , shes a good & carefull driver & if she didn`t want to take her pony this year i`d have happily paid for the diesel myself as i did last year ! The nearest local show is about 5 miles away , years ago there were 2 horse transporters who could take your horses to shows ,it was £10 each but that was back in 1988 ! |

I have had a run of so called friends doing the dirty on me this year. Im actually starting to become very paranoid and mistrustful of nearly everyone now, and all for what, trying to help and get people out of a muddle. Ive not had the best of times of it lately and with thee people on top of that I was ready to give up but I have said the same as you Sarah, Sod em' Like you I do not need people like that in my life at all. I know Im a good person, and now I really know who my true friends are!! Chin up. Leighx |

I feel just the same & when she phoned me & asked if i could take her up to her horses 3 weeks ago , i dropped her up inbetween visiting my clients ! I have some lovely friends although only a couple are horsey ,they say you can count your real friends on one hand ....How true ! I had a big fall out with another "friend" a couple of years ago when i was silly enough to move my 2 girls to her yard , she had a free return to a coloured stallion & her mare was infertile so i said she could use Fantasy providing she paid all vet , farrier fees etc , it all went wrong & i had to pay the vet bill after she got pus in the foot from having back shoes off. She even charged me livery for Fantasy whilst she was at stud for the 2 weeks They put asphalt outside my stables so my farrier said i`d have to keep her fully shod incase of it getting into the foot i paid for them (she refused to ) it was redidulous so i moved my 2 nearer to home when Fantasy was 6 months infoal , i had a legal battle which i won so i paid her the money for the stud fee the swab & scan , the last thing i needed was another foal but there was no way i was leaving Fantasy with her until the following January , i then sold her foal to a good home when she was a yearling . Im always there for my friends & when i didn`t have a lorry years ago my friend Rachel bought one so that i could drive our Palomino`s around to the shows ...like she said said to me that`s what true friends do ! |

Sarah so very sorry you had this experience with your 'friend', think we have all had this at some time or another.
There was a woman at our place who really let everyone down over some very expensive concert tickets, we paid her the money she told us the tickets were on the way and they never arrived, when we asked for the money bck she had spent it on a holiday for her daughter! She was asked to leave not long after that, but idiots that we were we never bothered to make sure what she took with her............loads of stuff went missing tht day and was never found again...........can only hope she had some good use out of the things she took with her. |

what a strange thing to lie about???? I can't get my head round why she would bother... she's not gaining anything from it! strange silly lying woman!! I can't stand liars, and once I've been crossed I completely disassociate myself from them!! |

So sorry to hear your misfortune with a so called 'friend'. Its sad that people use others in this way and I personally keep at a distance when it happens to me. There are a lot of good, kind, genuine people out there and they are usually the ones who give rather than take. Lots of love, Linda x |
