Leaving the link for the folks who had two coloured cobs stolen on the 2nd JUNE. Incase anyone can help cover a market or report anything they saw....
Cancel this search folks. It was only one cob missing and he's been found dead, fallen into a well.
Copied from the EGB site,
I had the following email this morning. So very sad but at least he can come off the list of missing horses From: Freyaleigh Kennels & Cattery [mailto:info@freyaleigh-kennels.co.uk] Sent: 04 June 2008 20:16 To: Val Swann Subject: Re: Missing horse Val, Thank you so much for all your help in trying to find Apollo. He was found earlier - down an unknown water shaft that opened up when he stood on it. RIP Apollo. Rebecca I know for a fact that she was searching for him with friends until late yesterday so possibly not in the mood for frippery. Thank you Sue and anyone who passed on my appeal and I really hope this does turn out to be a scam, although not a very nice one.

this is getting really out of hand now.. Appleby Fair should be banned as far as I am concerned!!! There should also be a official people to scan all horses with to see if a microchip is present.. |

Im going to Holmfirth sales a week on Saturday so will keep my eyes open for any stolen ones. A printable list of missing horses with pictures would be very helpful. |

they must have large horse boxes/or a few trailers to be stealing horses in such a quantity. Has no-one spotted anything that they may be transporting them in? |

I wonder why there has not been anything on the news, or have I missed it? |

Your quite right, STAFFORDSHIRE POLICE have NOT had 9 + 5 Cobs reported stolen, so far.( Just maybe these horses have no passports then the owners would be breaking the law and therefore might not report the theft, thats only a maybe...)
Staffordshire however did have the two vehicles spotted in Cannock Area last Thurday 29th June, the Big White Van N253 XAJ ( which is on false plates) and Red Landcruiser B16 RBB, so the same gang were about, and Staffordshire is on Alert.
A Black Car has also been mentioned and a Blue VW Golf.
Other Police Forces through out the country are still reporting sightings of men in fields taking pictures of horses. So Please be Alert and report anything suspicious to your local police. These peolpe need to be stopped and checked. |

Hi Pat, The only horse that seens to have been reported by the police at the moment as stolen, is Scooby 352U, a Freezemarked Bay Gelding 14.2h from St Albans, Herts. Pony Stolen from field in St Albans 27/05/2008. Ware Riding Club has been asked to circulate the following message
Scooby - 25yo 14.2hh Bay Connemara-X Gelding - Freezemark 352U – missing from his field in St Albans. Police believe he was stolen. Police appeal for witnesses after a horse is stolen in Hertfordshire . Police are asking for help to find a 14.1hh bay gelding stolen from a field in St Albans on Thursday 22 May Crime ref: F3081159 --------------------------------------------------------------------
No reports of stolen horses say police forces across the UK - 05/06/2008 Police in Manchester, Kent, Staffordshire and Merseyside have told H&H they have received no reports of stolen horses — despite alerts circulating among the public.
http://www.horsemagazine.co.uk/news/Staffordshire_police_say_no_horses_have_been_reported_stolen_article_257826.html ------------------------------------------------------ Although everyone seems to have heard of stolen horses up and down the country, including yellow lines painting to one field, nothing has come to light yet, except Scooby.
I'm on the Staffs ring around and hope they'll let me know if anything alters. The thought was that if these Staffs horses had no passports, they would be breaking the law, and might not want to report any theft..but, no one is able to confirm this at the mo. I contacted the saddlers club where the report came from and they have had to accept that the police have had not reports..so far...
Hope that answers your questions...Sue
