Last night on the local news it was saying in Devon the animal rescues have been flooded with unwanted animals all now looking for new homes as this was the first port of call many families were taking as cutbacks and rises in there incomes and homes!! My husband straight away said i wonder how many of the ******** gave up the poor **** his words and he rarly swears but still got all tv channels and internet connected or b***** mobiles on contract? Plenty of cutbacks to make first!!! So sadly peoples its happening already and a lot sooner than i had even antisipated.
Very sad, I know, but better the animals are taken to rescue centres than being dumped I suppose. No doubt there will be a lot more of this to come too. It is a huge worry and I bet there will be an increase in old horses being dumped too!!! Nicky
My lovely RSPCA mutt was a victim of this a couple of times before I got her. Sometimes I think people get animals too quickly and without thinking it through properly. I would have loved two dogs but it has taken me seven years to wish it and a year of serious thinking about it to arrange for my puppy. I've said it before - I would sell a kidney first if it came to it!
I think this is only the start of it, sadly. its a throw away society. i do wonder how many horses in particular wil suffer as fuel prices rise, and feed costs increase.
