Per post on other thread I am sad and ashamed that i cannot sign as the principle is entirely correct but the demands statement simply does not reflect the situation that arises in the UK.
I will do anything I can to prevent abuse both at events and at home but simple feel that the demands being made are unworkable.
Sorry

Hi,
I would sign it as I agree with the principles but am not willing to post my full address on a public forum...
If there's any way around this, then please let me know!

John and myself signed it quite early on, I too was suprised at the amount of Brits who had not signed up.
I do however have to agree with Cinders. To put a horse with a show trainer for such a length of time before shows sort of goes against what this is all about. Maybe they might alter this request?
It needs some more fine tuning.
As for putting your full postal address on there, anyone world wide can get your address, they can even look at where you live from google earth!! We have no anonymity anymore |

Hi Keren
Although I won't appear on "your list" of people who have signed I breed SEs and had signed it on the other site so I am sure there are others who have done the same. I didn't think it was right to sign it twice.
Cheers

l must admit l found it quite alarming at how few from the uk signed it...there is enough talk about how show horses are treated on this site but very few seemed to be prepared to put there money where there mouth is so to speak and if you do not want to put your name and full address on, you may email privatly....
l have seen first hand what some 'show' horses are like...when a loving animal goes from being a loving friend to a frozen fear riddled animal at the sight of a schooling whip......something is clearly very very wrong...when l see beautiful horses shaking in fear at the handler in the ring, too frightened to move, then it's time to do something.....maybe it is only signing a petetion, but it's a start

Thank you SO MUCH everyone who have proved you care!
Yes, I had reservations about putting my details on an open list - but as someone said, it's info that could be 'harvested' from an Electoral Roll anyway.
Yvonne (Cinders) - *I* DO NOT 100% agree with *all* the demands there - but at this stage, it is unlikely that they would be implemented in the form as shown anyway. The important thing is to demonstrate to ECAHO the strength of feeling against any form of abuse in producing the Arabian show horse. If you can find my postings on the discussion thread associated with the petition, you'll see that I have already voiced similar concerns in respect of 'outside' animal welfare officers, etc.
Yvonne - I know you DO care - please realise that this is just a first step, and sign up too. If you aren't a signatory at this stage, you are in a much weaker position to work with ECAHO later on when we come to the stage of actually framing and wording preventative measures. Yes, not everything is appropriate to the UK, but we need to show a large enough body of feeling to allow us to have our input when it IS needed!
