Don't know if any of you live in the Yorkshire area of Selby, but I have been told today of a group of people who call onto yards in a transit type van asking if there is any livery space, all the while having a good look around. The yards then are being "done over" a few days later. Be warned and be vigilant, try to stop these robbing so and so's.

We're just outside Wakefield, so not that far away really, and have the misfortune of having a large travellers site a couple of miles away. Few months back one of the ladies on our yard actually caught one inside her stable which has a tack /feed space inside the doorway. His accomplice was waiting in a Transit on the drive with the engine running & the back doors open!!
He made some comment about looking for livery I think, but was apparently completely unfazed at her catching him on the yard. Bold as brass they are . Since he was empty handed and she was alone, there wasn't much she could do, unfortunately.
They want stringing up, the lot of them, in my opinion! |

I think they are doing all over Yorkshire and surrounding counties... We too have had a speight of them around here.... AND they even got chains round a steel re-inforced door to pull it open to get into a neighbours tack room! Quad and the lot stolen. I would suggest keeping tack at home if you are on a yard... and keep them secure at home - we have just had a remote alarm from B&Q fitted to our barn - not expensive, but has a very loud bell! xx |

In the early hours of this morning, a caravan was stolen from the farm where I keep my mare (Wakefield West Yorks area). To add insult to injury they removed it via two fields containing horses (from two different yards), leaving gates open and smashing through electric fencing.
Luckily, the horses ended up on the farm, and didn't go out of the gate leading onto the road which is open limit.
The police, of course, don't want to know!!!
Please, everyone in West Yorks, remain alert. |

And start collecting information, Vehicle Reg Numbers, Type & Colours, Good Discriptions of these people, age, hair colour, what they were wearing, any accent, height and Pass it all to the Local Intelligance Officer at the Police Station, so they can get the B.........ds. You lot should be trying to help the police by marking all your stuff with your Post Code and take good photographs of all your stuff too and put up signs telling the thieves the stuff is all post coded and can be identified to you, people caught with stolen property can be charged with theft...some even end up in jail. No post code no recovery as they can't proove who it belongs too.... Freeze Marks and Post Codes play a good part in solving many crimes.... |
