Does The Prince of Wales own a Straight Crabbet stallion?? I had heard he was given one as a gift years ago.If he does, does anyone know it's name? Thanks in advance
He has a rather large stud fee! Not sure but I think he's at Pearl Island Arabians - perhaps they have a website. I saw a stallion ad for them in a magazine!!
I assume you are referring to Goudah? Although he is 'Straight Egyptian', it says on the website that he is of interest to a lot of Crabbet enthusiasts, as he probably has a lot of old Crabbet lines in his pedigree. I could be entirely wrong though
If it is Goudah contact Nikki Page - she knows the people who have got him and I'm sure she has a mare in foal to him - she posts as Nikki and has her signature as pagey she can tell you want you want to know.
Hi, and thanks Yes maybe it is him as that name did jump out at me, but I thought HRH had a 100% Crabbet,so must be wrong.
You may just have the wrong era, as the desert bred stallion Dwarka Or.Ar. was owned many, many moons ago but the then Prince of Wales. He is best known as the grandsire of Algol (Aldebaran (Dwarka)- Rangha) whose other lines were all Blunt-Crabbet. Algol appears in many modern Crabbet pedigrees via his double descendant Dargee, who was added to Crabbet by Lady Wentworth.
Maybe this association is nothing to do with any of this - obviously you were looking for a current horse. Just thought it might be interesting in theory, if long past now of course.
