Hi, can anyone tell me a bit about this stallion, he is by Nuits St George out of Bergeronnette. I know he is French bred, what lines is he, (Polish, Egyption etc?), I'm assuming he raced? Enquiring on behalf of a friend, I'm totally unfamiliar with these lines! Any info greatly received!

Definately race bred, and extremely good breeding. He is a half brother to Ballade Folle, dam of Dormah De Brugere (group 2 winner UK). French breeding through and through. Not sure on his race record, maybe Paul Simmons would know about this and also more about the pedigree. |

That would be me and yes sometimes.
Basilic De Nuit did race with Sarah Kelleway, he won a few races and was quite useful. He raced in France and was placed 3 times from 5 starts in 1997, and then was 2nd on Uk debut before winning two on the bounce. In 1998 he ran 12 times trained and ridden by Saraj Kelleway and onwed by Khlaid Abdullah Al Ghurair being placed 2nd or 3rd 9 times from 7 - 16 furlongs. In 1999 he won his final race at Larkhill over 1 Mile (8f), and doesn't appear to have raced after that.

Thank you Paul for the info, I will pass this onto my friend, I'm sure she will be really interested on how well he did racing. Do you know what lines he comes from, i.e. Polish / Egyption etc? I have had a look but don't recognise anything! Thanks. |

Kastell, according to data source he is french, french and more french! He has one great- grand dam that was Tunisian, but the rest is totally french. Does your friend own a horse by him? |

Hi, thanks again for the info, have passed it onto my friend, who is really pleased. She does own a mare by Basilic de Nuit out of Skylar (Sky Scilla x Sky Crusader), so race bred through & through (From what I can see, I found an article about the Sky horses posted on here a while ago!). Does anyone have any info about Skylar? I have found some info about her sire & dam but nothing for her.
My friends mare has never raced but my friend is planning to start Endurance riding with her this year, from what I can see race breeding is also good for Endurance?
Thanks again for the info, I don't know much about race breeding, so have learnt a bit too! Good luck to all for this seasons racing! |

Hi Kastell,
I think Skylar maybe raced once or twice, I used to own her half sister Sweet Simplicity (SES Pashas Mirat x Sky Scilla) who I owned/trained/rode to win Arab racing. This dam line is very influential and I love this breeding the Nawarra dam line has produced so many good performers and is still doing it, Breeders Cup winner Simooma )Vadeer x Sky Silhouette (a daughter of Silvretta Sky - out of Nawarra) is the dam of Markoom (by Bengali D'Albret) who has won 7 races in UK & UAE inc. Listed Race on Dubai Day back in 2006. My Sky bred mare has just gone into training with SammyD her name is Sakeena Sky Zayin (Karmah x Sweet Simplicity). Pictures of Sky and Simplicity on my website.
Skylar has produced one winner racing Crusader Junior (by Crusader) who won twice over 6f and 8f I believe, possibly now doing endurance. I assume your friends horse was bred by Sarah Kelleway? I have a file on Simplicity which gives details of this long line of racing descendants, if you e-mail me I will forward it on to you.
Paul
PS I wrote the article on here about the Sky Arabian Stud! |
