Hi Sue,
Philantha was by Pharis - she was unplaced in 4 starts in 1996. Dam of Little Philli, Safaniya and Thia. The latter Thia b.1993 (by Eaglescliffe) was I believe her best progeny, she was a tough little handicapper mare who won four races from 6 - 8 furlongs fromm 1999 - 2000. Thia was owned trained and ridden (and even bred) by Alison Maddox. I think Thia's doing endurance now. Philantha also produced Philesia mare b. 2002 by Razif - she only ran once last season at Wolverhampton in the opening maiden where she finished 6th over 7 f to Benamer.

Thanks for the info Paul, I never realized that these two (Saffy & Thia) were related, Alison is known to me, she is the sister in law to Jim Lane who owned Safaniya and completed & won 100 mile endurance rides and placed at several other ER's, Safaniya's total competitive mileage is 4,093kms(2,280 miles), a Super Endurance horse & British Team horse & Gold Medal Winner and I can't agree about your comment of best progany for me Saffy takes the cake, with Thia a close second. Jim rode Thia at the Marathon a few years back,I was there & got this on video. Safiniya died a couple of years ago while foaling and Jim has a very nice 3 or 4 year old colt by Imad & out off Safaniya, which I hope he gets him going in a year or two, will look forward to that. Cheers Sue. Jim & Saffy.
