my horse, now known as Spirit. I've owned him for a while now and have tried to gain information about his past previously but unsuccessfully. I've just discovered this forum and would be grateful if anyone could help. Spirit's a 15.1 flea bitten grey and is estimated to be 12-13 years old. I think he's pure bred but can't be certain. He has a pink flesh mark on his muzzle and a mixture of back and white hooves. He's got an unusual mark on his rump (a little bit like an arrow) and he was possibly known as busi or the business. I'll hunt out some pics to post tomorrow (once I've figured out how to do that.

I bought him in 2002 from an acquaintance who owned him over the previous winter. I don't know a lot about his life before that. He was a lot darker (and plumper) than he is now (he's become more white as he's grown older). When I first purchased him he had a dark grey mane and tail and dark grey legs. I'm in the North East of England.
I've put up a pic of him now and the mark on his bum.

| I'm in the County Durham/Sunderland area. My acquaintance was a friend from uni - she'd bought him from a yard in Sunderland where she kept her other horse. At the time he needed quite a bit of time and effort and she felt she didn't have the time and, due to a previous accident, the confidence to give him what he needed so sold him to me. I've tried to contact the yard she bought him from but didn't really get anywhere. |

Just thought I'd add a bigger pic of his face to see if anyone recognises him.
He's in the north east of england now, in a permanent home but don't know if he's local or from further afield. |

Hi,sorry I dont know your lovely gelding, but he is gorgeous. hes very very much like my gret arab mare who is by AZELLAH [now gelded] out of a black mare [Al Akhira, Blacklord Ceraro etc breeding].
I think your gelding has a largish % of egyptian arabian in his pedigree by his looks. |

| He looks very much like my boy Merlot (sig picture). He is by White Khan out of Shahrazad's Dream and is 13 years old. Think White Khan was at Souter House Arabians orginally (don't quote me though). Really hope you manage to piece some of his history together - can be frustrating but hope you come up trumps. I'm going to try this although it may not work. I found a picture of Spirit at the time I got him. You forget how much they change! It's not good quality as it's a photo of a photo.
Just hoping it might jog someone's memory as he's changed quite a bit. |
