My Vet was out giving rabies jabs last week and was saying that my mare was due to foal down a bit early this year (gave me a bit of a lecture about it actually)......he only believed the due date I gave him because I reminded him that he saw the newborn foal last May.
Guess pregnant mares are just like humans, and come in all shapes and sizes. This is a 14h Bask bred 17 year old, due in late June.I have never had a mare that looks so pregnant, so soon.
My mare has less three months and she is really started to get big now (only second foal), my friend on the other hand is a week earlier and she has been massive for ages believed to be her four foal. I agree they all come in different shapes and sizes.
My mare is not due until May either but has looked almost ready to drop for a couple of months now. Mind you she is not as big as she thinks she is... she's convinced she cannot fit through doorways, gates etc without being VERY careful, bless her! Its her third foal but first with me so I don't know how big she got with the others. I preparing for a big strapping colt now anyway!!!!

My mare isn't huge yet. She's got till april or may to go. She should have in april, but she went a whole month over for her last one, so I won't hold my breath! She's looking good though.
