Anyone come across this. My friend's 3 year old gelding was stung last weekend in the throat by a wasp. His head and neck swelled so much he looked more like a fell pony. His breathing was distressed and he couldn't lift his head off the ground. Vet came out and gave him 3 injections and thankfully everything seemed to go back to normal. Since then though his back end has gone very peculiar. Both hind legs are wobbly and one crosses under his belly when he trots or canters. We are very worried that the massive swelling might have caused some damage to his nerve endings. Vet coming again tomorrow but wondered if anyone had any suggestions as my friend is panicking. no direct experience of this but have heard that horses can take weeks to get over a reaction to stings... hopefully the vet should be able to reassure your friend though.
