Does anyone recognise the following horse - description from a friend of mine who bought her without papers. Rest assured she has a good home now but my friend would like to know who this mare 'really' is:
She is 15.1 hands.Grey.has a long head, but when viewed from the side it is very dished. She is well into her 20 years.moves like a dream. The previous previuos owner had her in Bromsgrove.Worcestershire.and she changed her name to Issabella.I can not remember from what. She told me she had been doing endurance riding before she owned her.and that she was Crabbett breeding.as I said she hasThe phophets thumbmark on her quarters,[i will have to have a look and see which side ,today] she shakes her head up and down at feed time.looks as if she has bred a foal or two.very sweet temperament.but gives you a nip when you do her rugs.[This owner put her out on loan and when she phoned a mobile number to see how she was, number unvailable, she woman had sold her on,and then the woman we brought her from got her from a dealer. This was in Enfield.Middx.She is not big boned.I have a photo of her ,taken in Worcs.

Thanks all! Any help greatly appreciated. Judith, my friend has emailed me a photo but I have no idea how to get them up on this forum, if it's ok with you I will email piccie - would you mind adding it to this thread, that way you can add direct to the EGB forum too? In the meantime my friend has added: Could not find mark under winter coat, but think it is on her right flank. She has a diamond shape pink flesh mark in between her nostrils and a pink flesh mark on her lower lip.I will contact Prev owner and ask who she brought Issy from.

I can tell you now that she was in the hands of a very unscrupulous person who has been intensively discussed for loaning horses and then selling them on. I have a picture he sent me to ask if I was interested that is still on my computer (I never delete anything) that if it isnt the same mare I will eat my hat. Unfortunatley he never told me her name................She is definately purebred though. |

A tiny bit more info - the horse was sold to the previous owner (who loaned her out but then could not retrieve her) as 'Connie'.
Thank you again all who are pursuing this and I hope to hear from someone soon! |

I have been asked also to stress that the Bromsgrove owner/address was a lady who loved and cared for this mare - in case anyone gets the wrong end of the stick. |

So which mare / Picture are we looking for...?? is Pashions mare the same one.... and if you can find out which name was used to do the endurance, that just might also help, as once registered for endurance the horse keeps the same name & log book for life. If she did competitive rides (not pleasure) she would be listed in the old results. and
Do you know where in Bromsgrove she came from.... |

I think the pics are of the same horse, my pic was taken 4 years ago so she will have changed a little. Can the owner verify the pink snip on her nose?? Its not clear on the other photo as she is pasture grubby. Also in my pic you can see a whorl at the base of her trachea, has this mare got the same thing?? |

I think we are just hoping someone will recognise her from the pre-Bromsgrove days, I have no info where she was previously or where she was bought from, sorry.
Re the photos my friend just sent me the following: Flesh mark question..The flesh mark on Issy.Is much bigger.it goes right up to each nostril sideways and the whole lengh of her nostrils to lower part of nostrils. So unless this changes [the flesh mark]which I did not think it does.not same horse.Yes there is a whorl in the same place. |

Just received the following from the Bromsgrove lady to put on here; the horse was bought from TIPTON so it is now that area which should be of interest:
I purchased Issy (Connie) from a girl in Tipton West Midlands, she was advertised in the local Bargain Pages. I don't recall the girls name name. Issy was in a poor state and turned out on very rough common ground, behind some garages with an assortment of others, no stabling, food or shelter. The girl apoligised for her poor state and lack of passport and said she had lost her grazing and had to sell Issy quickly. She did not say how long she had owned her for but mentioned she had done Le Trec in the past and had been used for endurance I did not see proof of this.
She was delivered to me by a girl in a lorry who I later recognised at a horse auction in Leominster buying and selling.
After the first week of having Issy she became very poorly she lost even more weight and was very lethargic. My vet came to look at her and prescribed steriod tablets for her which made her gain weight. I wormed and de-loused her and we seemed to be winning. From this time onwards she became healthy and a alert. After several more checks our vet was happy that she was fit, although old. She aged her at around 15-17 years but said she couldn't be more specific. My young son and daughter began to ride Issy and she enjoyed going out imensley always very well behaved and quite lively! When my children wanted to 'do more' I felt that Issy was too old and perhaps needed a quieter life. Further to this my friend had seen an advert for a lady who wanted a companion horse for her hunter mare I called her and she seemed very genuine we spoke many times on the phone. She assured my that Issy would be loked after for life and we agreed should she not be able to keep her for any reason I would have her back no questions asked. When the girl collected Issy she contacted me to say she had arrived safely and then several times over the next few weeks and then she was unobtainable on her phone.

No, my previous post was from 'oldest known' owner, who loaned her and lost track of her mare. At some later point my friend bought her, she is now in a lovely home. Only trouble was, my friend (and this previous lady) bought her with no papers and we are just hoping to find out her breeding. |

So is the account of the Tipton girl & the spotted Lorry in Leominster sale a resent event or what sort of time/date are you talking about. and can anyone remember the girl's mane. If this mare came through Beeston sale or Llaybydder she could be one of the Jabask horses. The first grey mare looks a bit like some of those....Do you have any clue what her first name was/is. Is Connie her earlist name......or got any clue's...
take a look at this posting....see if it rings any bells.... history wanted on fleabitten grey pure bred arab
