I have come across this nice picture of Mr. Sun-tan in an old Palomino magazine.
For Sue (Rozy Rider) this magazine confirms Mr. Sun-tan's breeding as follows: 1956, 15.3 hh BPS vol II, 51
by Mayfair III (Imp) GSB (chestnut) out of Sylvia (HSB vol 18 (grey). Looks like all your research was correct.
