I didn't mean to watch either programme but was channel hopping and I had seen the trailer about the 1/2 ton woman and knew she died shortly after the op - SO sad, especially for her daughters - also sad was that her sister seemed to be heading for problems with her weight too as she was a very large lady though still mobile ... I just cannot imagine being so huge with all the resultant problems ... WHY was nothing done earlier for her and how did she manage to produce two children being so huge - their births must have been life-threatening?? |

I read a review about the lifelike dolls and the first thing that came to mind was how nice it would be to stay home and play dollys again. No cold wind or mucking out or soaking haynets or filling water buckets. Just off to get the tiny tears out of the cupboard!!!! |

i didn't watch the 1/2 ton lady programme..... what i don't understand is that when people get so large that they are bed ridden where oh where do they get the food from. someone must bring it in....... and then when the food is in they must have to get someone to cook it for them or bring it to the bedroom. i don't really get it. if i had someone in my family that became bed ridden thru obesity if just would limit their food intake..... perhaps its just me |

They spoke to a person who seemed to be employed as a cook for her but I guess he came in when she became bed-ridden ie when she was already super (think that's the term) morbidly obese and when diet alone would have had very little effect I suppose. These people need help BEFORE the rot sets in. In USA people have to buy medical insurance don't they so many are going to go without any cover and get downward spiralling with no safety net. At least in UK the NHS is there and hopefully at least a percentage will get help in time ... |

The scariest thing is , there are said to be thousands just like her trapped in their homes and bed ridden. what a world where some are starving and cant find a meal, while others are eating themselves to deathmakes no sense really |

One of the very sad things about people with this kind of illness ( lets face it eating yourself to disability /immobility is not greed, its a very complex illness) is that they are often part of a co-dependant relationship...either a woman or a man. What I find horrible is you get the "Feeders" ...these are men ( none found to be female in latest research)who feed their women to obesity as this is an obsession with them , but is has more to do with their sexual needs than of a straightforward co-dependant relationship. Often they are "controlers" and need to hold all the power in the relationship....I mean if you can,t get out of bed without help , your partner holds alot of power over you and your wellbeing. They activly search out women who are obese. They even get competetive with other men doing the same things to thier women !!I saw a TV programme on this and then did a bit of reading up on the psychology of it ......enough to give you nightmares |
