Hi I have been looking on Allbreeds (free version) to trace horses descended from a particular mating. There is no agenda, just interested. Most progeny info - at least for this family - seems to stop around 1980. However I know of at least 2 horses not on Allbreeds that are descended. Is it correct to assume that Allbreeds is maintained ad-hoc by the community at large, ie the likes of you and me, rather than by obtaining registration data from say the AHS? Does Datasource work differently? - I'd be reluctant to subscribe if its information is similarly incomplete.
Where else does one go to get information - any other websites out there or would the AHS be able to help do you think? Thanks for any advice!

All Breeds information is entered by "us" I'm afraid so no one to keep an eye on whether the information is correct but still very useful.
Data Source is not up to date for UK entries, perhaps obtaining copies of the Stud books might be your answer or maybe someone on here all ready has them and can get the info you need |

Thanks for that, it's useful to know. Edited to add - If anyone does have the stud books and loves researching(!! - well I can see it has its attractions!) then I would love to hear from you and will send you full details. |

You should post the breeding, names, years, etc., of horses your intested in on here, there is so many folks with knowledge you'd be surprised. Bridie & Bia also may be able to help. |

Hi Doribee,
I'm relatively new to all this and have had fantastic help from the 'breeding ladies' for my new filly who had a bit of an identity crisis. Thoroughly recommend you post the horse's details - you will be most impressed with the friendly efficient service.
Needless to say, unfortunately as my id suggests, I only soak up information as I know very little, however, best of luck with your quest.

Hi Tina and other researchers, Nikki has very kindly been looking in to this one for me and most helpfully answered some of my questions, but - correct me if I'm wrong Nikki - there does not look to be offspring of the 2 horses I was enquiring about. However perhaps it's worth throwing open to anyone else who's into pedigrees - something may turn up. Years ago I used to know a mare Romika (on Allbreeds as Romika8)whose parents were Prince Mikesha/Roxira. Romika had 2 foals that I know of - Rabia (filly) foaled 1987. Rashmika (colt)foaled 1989-ish? I thought it was a wonderful line as all 3 had absolutely beautiful trot action. Neither of these 2 is on Allbreeds and both were sold by their breeder in the early 1990's, Rashmika was entire at that time. It would be lovely to hear if either Rabia or Rashmika bred on, or what happened to them. Many thanks if anyone can help.

If you have there correct names, breeding & year of birth +sex, you can add them yourself, or ask someone here to add them for you, the other person who might be able to check out any other progeny is Bia, or Bridle who has all the Stud books..Sue |

Hi DoriBee,
I've filled in info on allbreed for Romika and her foals & some siblings. None of her foals have any registered offsprings, so sad! Romika had two full siblings, Bint Roxira mare (2 foals =no progeny), Raksh stallion (1 foal in UK =no progeny, & 24 foals in Australia). I have not followed up Romikas' half-siblings, but if you want.. just let me know!

Hi Bia, thank you, that is very kind of you. If you want to research more I would love any info - really interesting that Raksh went to Australia, and sired 24 foals so hopefully at least the line is alive and well out there!
