I hope this is ok to post, as I received this message via e-mail and thought people in the area would like to be made aware.....
THIS IS A RINGMASTER MESSAGE FROM MILTON KEYNES POLICE ON 30 AUGUST.
INTELLIGENCE SUGGESTS THAT TWO MALES WHO ARE BELIEVED TO BE TRAVELLERS ARE GOING UNINVITED TO LIVERY YARDS AND STABLES ALL OVER BEDFORDSHIRE, BUCKINGHAMSHIRE AND NORTHANTS IN A SILVER/GREY VAN OFFERING TO SHOE PEOPLES HORSES AT TWO THIRDS OF THE NORMAL PRICE, FORTY POUNDS.
A FEW DAYS AFTER THESE VISITS YARDS ARE BEING BURGLED AND TACK AND RUGS ARE BEING STOLEN. THE VAN THAT IS BEING DRIVEN MATCHES A DESCRIPTION OF A VAN STOLEN IN A BURGLARY AT A FARRIERS HOME ADDRESS IN WATFORD EARLIER THIS YEAR.
THE VAN WAS FULLY KITTED OUT WITH THE EQUIPMENT NECESSARY TO SHOE A HORSE AT THE TIME IT WAS STOLEN.
THERE ARE ALSO TWO POLISH MALES GOING TO YARDS IN AND AROUND BUCKINGHAMSHIRE OFFERING TO SHOE HORSES AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE, IT IS UNKNOWN IF THEY ARE CONNECTED TO THE TRAVELLERS.

Thanks for the information....
I have also been told that a very large yard in Birkenshaw, West Yorkshire, has been burgled too - I am not sure who has supposed to have done it, however, all rugs have been taken off the horses backs whilst out at night, and all the tack, rugs etc have been stolen from the tack rooms - locks and everything have been smashed off.
Police here have strongly been advising for people to mark their goods (write post code etc in them) in a way to avoid them being re-saleable.

Oh dear here we go again! As soon as the rugs appear this sort of thing happens somewhere. Since a similar thing happened to me I have painted my postcode in very large letters on both sides of my rugs. These are difficult to remove without completely ruining the rugs.
The lengths we have to go to to protect our property. |
