Okay I know some of you guys on here must do this but wondered if anyone else does it with there stallion. Some days he is in a playful mood and we sort of play tag where by I run in a direction, admittedly with a fence between us, then turn and run the other way and he mirrors me.
Sometimes he gets really excited and goes of on a bucking and cantering spree then comes back for more. I always make sure at the end of these sessions that I go in to the paddock with him and have a quiet few moments with him. Mainly as I do not want him to think he is the dominant one. He does look disappointed when I stop and on non playful days gives me respect so I figure it does no harm.
Just curious..

I do something very similar with my colt and like you make sure we have a couple of minuts quiet together and he is a gem so like you say no harm I think they enjoy it a lot if not they wouldn't take part! |

Hi Dot, Yes, another one here who plays with the horses. My colt loves a run around but his favourite pastime is his football!! Bliss for him! He picks it up, throws it & can kick it with both front & hind legs! Hours of fun for him - and at least it gave his mum a bit of peace when he was with her. Lisa |

and another. Have a 15.3hh, 9 year old Crusader son who loves to play in field. Loves to come and supervise when muck picking too. Great fun and can alway send him away with body language, so never too "in face". You know your horse best. |

Love playing tig with Honey (no zimmer frame required either....for her not me) She's only 14.1 tho and her hurling towards you at break neck speed is less worrying than say a 16.2 doing it! |

I used to do this alot, but i'm sure Warrior began to think I was another horse, so much fun but got a little dangerous at times. |

Here is pic (hopefully) of my 2 year old gelding when he was a foal playing with his spacehopper. He has now got a bright yellow one and still plays football, kicks it, chases it, kneels on it, although he keeps bursting them. |

Ramak used to have a space hopper but after he decided throwing it at his mum was good idea I changed it for a football in a net. |
