Great topic! Sure it's made us all think again about whether drivers can see us.
It's just as valuable in the bright summer sunlight too, as the flourescent material soaks up the sunlight and drivers can see our reflected Hi Viz when they're in the sunlight and we've 'disappeared' under the shade of a tree!!

Having said that, I'm about to do yet another story in our paper after getting a complaint from two horse riders who were nearly written off by a speeding 4 x 4 who then stopped and gave them hell for riding out at 8.30am because people were trying to get to work!

Donna, She told him that's exactly why they were riding early, because they had jobs to go to as well!!
One of the two riders is a driving instructor and her assessment of his driving was a resounding FAIL!

I have twice nearly driven into people from our farm because they were on the road - in summer, in good light - without hiviz stuff. Horse and rider VANISH on bright days if there's any shadow about - because the shadows are really dark and you just disappear.

And pedestrians ought to do the same if they are out in areas without a pavement.

I look a complete berk because I am always festooned with hiviz stuff but the perfect reply to a sarky wotsit who sneers: 'I wouldn't be seen dead looking like that!'? 'That's the whole idea...'

Said the little eohippus, "I´m going to be a HORSE"

wow!
that photo is amazing. When I showed it to my daughter she couldn't see the 2nd horse for ages - it really makes you think.
My mare is a white grey, but I'll still go out & buy some more Hi-Viz after seeing that picture - well done.
Does anyone know where I can buy Hi-Viz wear for a dog?
90% of the time my Jack Russell comes out with me so I think its about time she was kitted out as well!
Any ideas gratefully appreciated.
thanks
Lisa

Hi-Vis - LOVE IT!! Every year I have to buy another peice (it fades, honest!) I always made sure that both the pony and i have a peice each just in case we part-company

Interesting about the message on the back - i see on the web that you can get them saying stuff like 'does my bum look big on this'. i know its funny but does it get the message accross?

OK , on my soap-box now - cyclists should wear it all the time too! Cant see them, stupid winky-blinky back light in the dark and wearing dark clothes - totally bonkers!! I think they are expecting too much of car drivers when the roads are so much busier now

And off the soap-box... calmly breath in.... and out...

Go hi-viz!!

One of my little pressies for the ragw show was hi-viz tabards.

It's amazing how much more time you have as driver to REACT! when you see Hi-Viz.
It should be like wearing your seatbelt!

The latest thing is we have joggers-wearing BLACK! in the night, and running with the traffic too-no cs at all.

A little reminder - do keep your high Viz clothing/horse wear washed & clean....so their brightness works to the maximum!! My tabards etc get washed after every couple of uses to keep them bright!
