Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me more about the stallions Korran & Rachid.
I've found their breeding but I wondered what show successes they may have had etc.

If they are the two that you get if you type the names into allbreeds have you tried contacting the British Palomino Society as certainly Korran seems to have been use to breed palomino part breds. Also both of them have listed progeny with a Cromer prefix so have you tried finding a Cromer Stud.
I might be putting two and two together and making five but it might be worth contacting the lady below. She is listed on the Palomino Society website as their contact for probationary judges so must be at least reasonably knowledgable about palominos and might be the user of the Cromer prefix.
Mrs R A Latchford, Cromer Farm, Cromer, Stevenage, Herts, Tel - 01438 861276
Hope this helps

Korran was by Merjan x Rougette (Grojec) born in 1976 and bred by Mr Prosser. He was chestnut and had one colt foal (Benizair) before being exported to Iraq in 1983 where he sired 35 more offspring.
Rachid was by Silver Flame also out of Rougette and bred by Mr Prosser. He was born in 1980 and was chestnut. He sired 56 offspring but all in Iraq or somewhere else in the Middle East where he was exported to in 1983.
Info from Darasource.
Hope this helps. |

Hi there Dormouse & Tamila,
I've already spoken to Joan Latchford, who was extremely helpful about her Cromer horses and she said she used these stallions as they were owned by either her son-in-law or daughter in law (can't remember which) and they apparently showed at HOYS but she didn't seem to know much about them.
As for the Iraq information that has now made me now wonder whether the arab stallion Rachid used by Yasmine Smart as one of her Circus Liberty Horses, that I had found on the web, is a different Rachid
Thank you for your interest.

Strange you mention Circus, when I spoke to Mrs Munday, I'm sure she mention one of the Palomino horses was at a circus. |

Hi Sue,
Thanks again for your interest.
I think Joan Latchford mentioned several palominos being used in the circus when I told her about the arab Rachid.
Yasmine Smart's Arab horses can be seen on her web site www.yasminesmart.com under heading 'Yasmine's Team' if anyone is interested.
Regards,
Chris

Just noticed allbreeds now shows Rachid as a chstnut which I did not remember seeing before. If this is the case the Yasmine Smart's Rachid is a different horse as that's a grey.

Here is a grey Rachid (1979), maybe he is Yasmine's? http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rachid2
Edit: The chestnut Rachid (1980) was exported to Iraq as a two y/o.
Edit again: Just saw that Pauline already wrote that info!

Hi all Here is a picture of Korran who was chestnut b. 1976 by Merjan out of Rougette. He is the sire of Cromer Carramax. This is from the Spring 1983 edition of Palomino magazine.
I dont know whether you can read this stud advert but it says"This young purebred stallion must be of keen interest to all palomino breeders with his striking chestnut colour and flaxen mane and tail. He has already sired a high percentage of palomino foalds including Cromer Carramax. All his stock are acceptable for at least the Arab Society Part Bred Register. He has an impressive show record including winning at the Arab Show in 1978. He has superb conformation coupled with lovely floating action and a relaxed temperament.".

Saddlebred,
Thank you for the lovely photo. I actually first saw it on the other thread!
I cannot believe how lucky I have been with everyone so generously providing all this information.
If you happen to see any mention of a mare called Cromer Caress I would also be very interested.
Thanks loads,
Chris |

Hi Pleasures,
Very sweet of you to offer to contact Mr Prosser!
I am very interested to know if either of these stallions were successful in the showring but this is hardly a life or death situation and I don't want you to put yourself in an uncomfortable position just for me. If he was your best buddy up the road it would be great - but there's enough hassle in this life without creating it!!
I think when I get sometime I may be able to find magazines that may have covered HOYS in the early eighties so that may be an avenue if no one comes up with info here.
Thanks for the interest,
Chris |
