Hi, I have just joined this site (but have been visiting it for a couple of weeks) I hope somebody can help me trace somebody who is breeding from my arabs lines, his name is sayan by bayazar out of sayada bought him barton lodge stud 20 years ago as a 3 year old and has been my best friend since then, unfortunately his age is now getting the better of him and I think he will be retired soon and I would just love to be able to find somebody who has carried on the lines from barton lodge, i don't know if they are crabbit, english egyptian or what they are, but i do know that he has been a very good friend and if i could find one that comes close to him i would be very lucky

Hello Marian, Welcome to Arabian Lines. Good to see you're here! There was another Barton Lodge thread but though I've done a search I can't find it. Plenty of people responded but it seems to have disappeared off the archive. If this thread doesn't get some answers, try posting it on the main discussion section. There are so many people on this site who have information and experience going back decades!

Hi Roseanne, Many thanks for telling me about this site, trouble is nothing gets done (at home or work), I keep reading threads, then find another interesting one which links to something else, but I think it is a wonderful site. I don't know if you remeber me telling you about my youngster, but it turns out that she has 2 of my arabs great grand fathers on both sides, anyway thanks very much maybe we will talk again soon

Hi Marion,
I can only give you the breeders name, but hopefully someone might know them.. or can look up contact details for you! I don't have the studbooks for recent years, I search at a database in the US.. and they are not up to date with offsprings.. nor owners (besides for their own country)!
Here goes: RUSHDEN ARIANNA 1994 Grey Mare By CLAPHAMS RUDAN (Bred by Mrs Y.H. Fensome) Offspring =RUSHDEN PRIMA DONNA 1999 Grey Mare (same breeder)
RUSHDEN ALASTIF 1995 Chestnut Stallion By CLAPHAMS RUDAN (same breeder) Offspring =ESTA SERAFINA 2001 Grey Mare (Bred by Mrs Charlotte Saggers)
RUSHDEN ASTISHAR 1998 Chestnut Mare By SHARRADO (Bred by Mrs Y.H. Fensome) RUSHDEN BRAVADO 1999 Chestnut Stallion By SHARRADO (same breeder)
Hope this will help! Bia |

I'm sorry Marion, it has caught many of us that way. I spend far too long on AL checking up on threads I'm following! I'm fascinated about your search for relations of your boy. I just wish the old thread about Barton Lodge was still accessible. I'm sure others may be able to tell you more about it and the horses bred there. You're not the only one who found Fred the most wonderful and knowledgable character about Arabs. |

I bred a beautful colt from my mare Beaumont Safari Rose by Darjeeel that I sold entire as a 2yr Old. He was born in 1989 and I have tried very hard to trace him but no luck. He was a liver chesnut boy with the most serene and gentle dispostion. I wish I new what happened to him Sue |

Hi Zan,
Many thanks for putting this link to Barton Lodge on, I found it very interesting reading what people have put about this wonderful stud, and hopefully now that I have a few contacts that have or know of horses from this stud, I may be able to find an arab that is along the same lines as mine Bayazar/Sayada |

Well done Zan! How did you find that then? I put in Barton Lodge on the search and couldn't get that one... I thought it had gone on longer than that! Perhaps that was a different one since I remember it having lots of people's memories of horses that had been really good performance ones, many or most being Crabbet or Old English. Brain not quite as clear as it was - age creeping up on me!

Oh Bia You dont know how happy that has made me. He is still with the same people that I sold him to I will most certainly try to trace him. Did you find him through the data base I am not a member so I only get the basic information. I will get in touch with the AHS now that I am a member again He was as I said the most gentle and beautiful arabian I only sold him because I had a bad accident and all of my horses were sold. I have just as you know bought my first arab for 10 yrs. Thanks again Sue

Do check out the Courthouse bloodlines thread in the Pedigrees & Bloodlines section - it also contains info on some Arabians descended from the Barton Lodge programme. Alexia |
