I always feel really sorry for that poor mare when I see her pic. To breed for an extreme dish like that is to ask for breathing difficulties and I shudder to think what her teeth look like---she can't possibly have a normal bite. I doubt very much if she could cope with any sort of bit, but then it probably hasn't crossed anyone's mind to ride her..........I have read before that she is a one off and doesn't pass it on, but faults often skip a generation or two so I think it is extremely irresponsible to breed from her. The worst aspect of it is that her owners hold her up as an exquisite example of the breed, when to my eyes she is a deformed freak, poor babe
Lynda, I prefer the look of your mare before you fiddled with the pic, but you make a good point. |

Hi i dont really agre with breeding this look on purpose but i dont think it was intentional. As for her teeth, they are obviously not affecting her as she is in great condition |

Has anyone actually seen this mare move? I would be interested to hear how she was after as to weather she has breathing problems or not. If you consider how extreme her head is and think about her breathing problems im sure it would be very visable if she was struggling to breath. |

Blimey yes she is NOT Pc enhanced, but she IS having to work hard to breath, all the moving video showed her nostrils moving really hard and flared to suck in as much air as she could watch for yourself, she does look in good condition but she does have a problem breathing that cant be denied |

I agree Lynda---she is struggling to breath. Poor girl. Even in slow motion you can see her nostrils flaring ---it would be very obvious in real time. Which is probably why the whole thing is in slo-mo. |

They are meant to look like seahorses, this apparently is the look that everyone is after, ultra ultra extreme, i personally love the old days, i want my arab to look like a proper horse, they are all beautiful, but extreme looks like sly stallone and his mother!! (comparrison) do not do it for me. |

She's a pretty little mare but way too extreme for me..I'm like my old fashioned arabs functional & still fantastic to watch I feel people place way too much emphasise(s) on this 'extreme' look & achieving it & this detracts from their true qualities imo |

Maybe they all looked like that before westeners got involved. Look at the very old pictures with these heads. Who is your mare Lynda? |

There have been sooooooooo many debates about this mare. Whether you love her or hate her I feel tremendously sorry for her, because of her 'beauty' (read that as you will) she has been poked, prodded, filmed, bought and sold for enormous amounts of money and at the age of 23 will probably find no respite from this when she should be enjoying her retirement in a lovely paddock with her buddies. I have seen pictures of two of her offspring and they bore no resemblance, and I don't think any of her children have been so extreme. Although I personally think she is probably a 'freak' or 'one off' there are quite a few Nariadni/Muscat horses around and the odd extreme one does crop up (although not as much as her)!! I have a mare with this cross and would like to say she is much prettier lol!!!!!!!!! JMO of course!!! |

I think she is stunning, (a bit scary at first), but once yu get used to "that head", she's absolutely beautiful. She could come and live with me too! |

When does extreme type become malformation? Look at several badly affected dog breeds. A lesson for us all - if we care to learn it. |

I think the mare is very beautiful, okay her head a bit extreme but if you look at the mare overall she is a lovely mare and I wouldn't so no to having her. At the end of the day beauty is in the eye of the beholder. |

I have only just been able to view this video. That poor mare her breathing is worse than my old gelding when he has an 'asthma attack' after trotting for about 20 minutes. He does not have them anymore as he now lives out all the time. |
