We have some very funny discussions at work (we have a discussion board too) and one of todays topics is

What annoys you.

Some of the responses are so funny I thought I's share them with you.

When people assume that lifts are always empty and try to get in whilst you're trying to get out.

Anyone who's not me doing anything at all, as they are either doing something completely worthless or ridiculous, quite clearly doing it wrong or not doing it as well as I could.

Hayfever despite a total dearth of warmth and sunshine

Tailgaters (I am one idiot away from having a silage gun installed on the back of my car)

People using obscure vouchers in front of me in the supermarket queue

People who can only communicate through the language of ringtone demonstrations (often found on public transport)

People who insist on checking their mobile every five minutes despite it already being on display and having an obnoxious tune that they got off their mate when they were on the bus

Gossips - if they gossip to you, they'll gossip about you

Products invented by JML

People / groups of people who stand in / walk slowly along the middle of corridors. Generally, chatting to other slow people, reading a paper, playing with their mobile phones, etc. People who drive too slowly. Basically people who meander along with no consideration to the world outside them. Or, basically, people.

Also, people who stand for ages in a queue to buy a single item with the price clearly on it- and then act surprised when the checkout person asks for money- at which point they start counting out £1.55 in silver. COUNT YOUR MONEY BEFORE YOU GET THERE! ARGH!

People at cashpoints who take forever to decide which one of the 48 credit cards has the most money available. finally choose one, then take ages to put it back in their wallet or purse, then take the money, count it 16 times, before carefully putting it away, adjust their shirt, cough a little, check their hair in the reflection, check their mobile phone is still on, blow their nose and then turn around and look surprised that the queue behind them is longer than one for free British visa's at Calais.

People who whizz their cursor around in circles on the screen before eventually clicking on what they're supposed to be clicking on, while you're trying to show them how to do something. If the cursor left a trail, it would have drawn something akin to a 3 year old's doodle painting by the time they'd finished.

My own is when you email someone and they reply but don't answer the question/qery you emailed them with in the first place.

Someone who says that they are going to do something and then don't bother to do it without telling you so you are left waiting. Its fine not to do it but at least have the courtesy to say you're not going to.

Hi Vera,

I agree with all your points and would also like to add

People who sail down the middle lane of the motorway regardless of what is happening around them.

People who fail to use indicators at any time and feel it is their right to just pull out in front of other people who then have to brake.

I agree totally about the people who seem surprised when they have to pay for their items in supermarkets. Also those people who move up the checkout lane behind you when you are packing and then stand at the chip and pin machine when you need to put in your number!!!!! They dont stand there for long if its me.

Excellent Vera, I like the tailgaters one best. Gail, I agree there is nothing worse than someone hovering by the chip and pin machine in which you have to enter your pin, in fact that only happened to me the other day and I had to say "excuse me" , the guy looked really put out that I had asked him to move out of my space, as it were, there again he looked pretty thick!!!

You've just reminded me. A couple of years ago I was on the tube and you can't help but be in everyone elses personal space but when a woman starts picking her nose, and I don't mean discretely I mean a full blown booger hunt about 6 inches away from your face.............

Where would you like me to begin?
Just about everything at the moment! Particularly OH who has just announced his Summer holiday ended today when I've just taken a week off work so that we can do stuff together for a change! Is he trying to tell me something?
Tailgaters, especially when it's my OH doing it! PS why a silage gun? I would have thought sewage would be more appropriate

Most of the things that annoy me are to do with drivers/driving:-

People that constantly touch their brake lights.
Old drivers who poodle along at 20mph in a 40/50mph speed zone.
Lorry drivers who think that just because they are in a bigger vehicle they can do what they like.
Drivers that don't slow down for animals. (I swear some people are aiming for the birds/pheasants/rabbits in the road).

Also, have you ever had a conversation with someone that repeats the last couple of words of your every sentence? How annoying is that? I have a friend who does it and it is very off putting, it feels like there is an echo in the room

Just thought of another one!

people who dont use grammer or punctuation or capitals making it really hard to read what they are saying often with bad spalling haha and people who type a whole thread out in capital letters to me this is shouting and certainly around here is seen as agressive and this goes on and on without a break or a paragraff haha and using the correct sounding word but the wrong spelling for it these people do not talk like that so why to they right haha like it often I dont bother to even try to read what they have to say because if they cant be bothered why should we they should try reading what they have written out loud to see if it makes sense before posting it

If after having a bath and the smell is still there then put some tomato ketchup on it,this will neutralise the smell and then after about 10 mins you can bath him again.

I think they actually use it to neutralise the skunk smell, so it should work on badger poo I would think

What really gets my goat when out riding with friends, guests or competing LDR - when I open a gate & they sail through without so much as a "ta" or "thanks"!!!! I always say "thank-You" if anyone opens a gate for me......I'm horribly polite (was drumed into me as a child out hunting when I was often on gate duty!)......!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all - here's my contribution ---!!!
Judges that don't have the manners to comiserate or at least thank those competitors at the end of the line...nothing worse than being 7th when the rosettes only go to 6th.
Car parkers at horse shows - don't they know that you need more than 6 inches to drop a side ramp, and yes you have to park next to your friend.
People who ask if you've had enough to drink when clearly you are on a bender!
oh yes - and - Bad Breath!
I could go on and on, I am that grumpy old woman!

Yep, I'm with all those who hate SMELLY people....especially when they appear next to you in a clothing shop and you just know that they will select things to take into a changing room to TRY ON whilst STINKING with no thought to anyone who might want an article they have contaminated then REPLACED, passing the pong onto some unsuspecting person .... well you get the drift and I now hate this enough to walk out of any clothes shop where there is a smelly person, in case they have :
a) tried on anything I might be going to try on...
b) just used the changing rooms and left the WHIFF in there!

I also am annoyed by Hoohah surounding the 10th anniversary of the death of Diana.

Now, I am hardly alone in thinking that Diana's death was a tragic event which robbed two young boys of their Mother and her family of a much loved member......and the people of the country of a ambassador that seemed to represent the vivacity of the younger Royals...and so on.... BUT....

....can we please stop this speculation of conspiracy theories of murder day after day after day....the making of a saint out of a woman who also was given to marital infidelity with more than one man and seemed to forget that there was rather more than only THREE people in that marriage ~ crowded ???? it was becoming like Piccadilly Circus and only one of those was Camilla !!

Honestly ~ Diana was HUMAN like the rest of us and the rest of us sometimes marry for the wrong reasons, have affairs, get divorced, make a snarl up of our personal lives....and maybe THAT was what endeared her to so many....she was JUST LIKE them.....and just like the unstable, disfunctional multitudes out there, cannot Charles, Camilla, William, HArry, the Queen and Uncle Tom Cobbley and all ~ who are so much like us, just be allowed the privacy that the rest of us would be horrified to have so invaded?

And please, can we allow poor Diana some peace in death, when running from so much unwanted attention literally cost her her life?

....and back to the more basic matters....people who leave dog poop in public areas when a bag is not so very hard to remember when going for a walk!!!!!!

AH, now HERE is my favourite gripe:~

OTHER PEOPLE'S NOISY, RUDE, BAD MANNERED, TANTRUM~THROWING BRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have raised two kids to mid teens and yes, we had the odd wobbly thrown in an embarrassing place, but I leapt on THAT immediately as not only did I not want to be embarrassed by my kids, I never wanted anyone to hate my children as much as I have LOATHED those of some ignorant, frightened parents, scared to say no, or give their obnoxious offspring a quick slap on the leg to put them in their place when they are ruining a film, a meal out, a journey on a plane ....and so on, for others.

Society wouldn't have so many louts and yobs if more mothers and fathers put some discipline and sense of responsability to others and exercised FAR LESS tolerance of bad behaviour from babyhood upwards . If a child gets away with murder....what will the teenager try and the adult do next ? Small misdemeanors, lead to larger ones, lead to crime...

I hate it when silly old people stand at my gate and try to wave me out into oncoming traffic!

I hate people on mobility scooters who speed down the pedestrian precincts when any kid on a bike would be escorted away by a policeman!

I hate old people who are rude and when yet another pushed into the queue for turkeys last Christmas in Marks and Sparks, I started a conversation with my equally disgruntled neighbour, about the insufferable example set by the old who then criticise the young for lack of manners!

I hate one particular miserable old mobility jockey who is a menace in shops all over St Helier ( Jersey), especially in Woolies and WH Smith ! Miserable old stoat he rams into the queue and announces, "I am a cripple!"....and the last time he did it, a woman piped up, " you may be old and a cripple, but you are NO GENTLEMAN!". She got a lot of "hear, hear"s from the rest of the queue !!!!

What is it with these people?

If they were never rude and yobby in their youth, they are making up for it now!
Oh dear, there goes my theory about nipping it in the bud....maybe if you repress your kiddy winkies when they are little, they'll turn into obnoxious octogenarians later!

Don't you just HATE THAT THOUGHT?!?!?!?
