3 pure breds went through Melton sales yesterday, two geldings and a mare. Two were not in great condition, an elderly mare by Zourrak and a very sway backed gelding by the name of Sadeeka. Unhappily one sold for £250, the other for £275, both going to separate dealers. The other a five year old grandson of Mistabeaujangles made just under £500 and was in better condition, but I didnt see who he went to, but it wasnt a dealer. All were greys, all brought in by the same person. I dont know the circumstances, but how very sad it was to see the elderly pair left to a more or less certain fate. I do wish all people with elderly horses would have the courage to do the right thing for them. Taking them to market and to a totally unknown fate is just so callous a thing to do to these horses. How do some people sleep at night at wonder?

That makes me so annoyed My old mare was with me for 9 years, 4 of which she had no use but would never part with her, she was with us untill she died. I just hate it when people put old horses in sales, its bad enough putting any horse in a sale let alone an old horse |

The mare was knocked down to a dealer by the name of Tom Smith who I believe comes from Essex, but have got no idea about the dealer who bought the swaybacked gelding |

there is a dealer called Tom Smith in Flitwick, Beds. I tried a horse there once. i ended up in a wheelchair in the Lister Hospital for a night. I temporarily lost my sight in one eye and hearing in one ear. I am fine now but it was pretty scarey at the time. |

I know of Tom Smith if Flitwick, I also tried a horse there many years ago and would not wish to repeat the experience! I managed to "bail out" before I was seriously hurt, but I was acting as "test pilot", this was supposed to be a child's pony |

oh my gosh, this is so horrendous... how can a lovely horse jump through hoops for you all its life and the way you repay it is to send it to a dodgy dealer... makes me so sad... i believe what goes around comes around.. Lets hope it is true in this instance..
