1. Not strictly palomino this one but a prolific breeder of quality palominos. Who is the lovely cremello mare? (This should be easy for some of you as I know you have descendants of this lady)
Thanks Linda. I always enjoy looking at your quizzes and Bob and Ena's but I never know the answers to any of those - except some of the old Crabbet ones. There seem to be a few palomino PBA people on here so I thought I would give it a crack. .
Dont expect it to live up to you guys though cos I havent got the immense library of photos and wealth of knowledge that you all seem to have. Nice to have a bit of fun though. Best wishes Debbie
Well good luck with it Debbie, but does anyone know its here? you ought to put a thread in discussion or tea and coffee and tell them that you have started a quiz, some of the partbred and palamino people might not think to look in the quiz room as it may not be of any interest to them and they wont know what they are missing till you tell em
It looks like Bryn Meurig Silver Mist , the foal could be Goldenfields Morning Sun although it said she had a filly that year ! I dread to think how many palomino`s she produced !
Well done Jackie and Sarah. It is Bryn Meurig Silver Mist and I think the filly is Fayrelands Silver Lace as the markings look right and magazine I was looking at said it was with her 1994 filly! As Sarah says she had a colt in 1994 and Lace was born in 1984.
I actually have no idea how many foals she had either... probably a bit of a flaw when setting a quiz eh!!! Did see the ones on Allbreeds though.
If that was too easy I will have to try to find something a bit more difficult.
I thought a cremello mare might be hard - no markings etc - but no fooling you guys!!
Lace had 2 white stockings on her front legs & was by Quadeha & the foal in the pic only has the one front stocking ! Willow Ropner sent that pic into the Palomino magazine as she bred a few out of Mist at that time but they were sired by by Luciano , i thought it might have been Goldenfields Morning Sun but then i remembered the lady down in Devon i knew called Ann Mingay that owned him then bought his full sister who was a year younger called Goldenfields Summer Haze ! Just looked up an old Palomino national champs catalogue & her name was there she was 3 yrs old in 1997 !
Good investigative work Sarah L. I thought it was odd because the dates and sex didnt seem right. Goldenfields Summer Haze seems to fit the bill. I wonder what happened to her? Debbie.
Now Sarahw... you are either very old or you have got exactly the same magazines as me. It is going to be hard testing you!!
Well done. The Kingsettle champions are exactly as you list and Brun Meurig Silver Mist is listed as having AT LEAST the following palomino foals:
FAYRELANDS SILVER LACE pal M 1984 by QUADEHA GOLDENFIELDS MELICK AL SAHARA C 1988~ by LUCIANO GOLDENFIELDS QUE SERA M 1990~ by RISSLAN GOLDENFIELDS SILVER FAME pal C 1992 by LUCIANO GOLDENFIELDS MORNING SUN G 1994 by LUCIANO GOLDENFIELDS SILVER STAR H ~1997 by MONCLARE ARABIAN KING GOLDENFIELDS SILVER PRINCESS M 1999 by MONCLARE ARABIAN KING
I think it is your turn to set us a question now. You are bound to have lots of photos and from the quality of what you have posted on the "new arrivals" - they will be lovely too.
I am going to get my head in some really really old books to get your grey matter working![:D} Best wishes Debbie
Misty had a foal almost every year from when she was old enough to breed including two colts that died. princess was the last and a "suprise" in 1999 - but she had more than Fayrelands Silver lace for Carol - not sure how many apart from Fayrelands Silver Reflection and Fayrelands Silver Haze. Will think of a question for you all.
Goldenfields Morning sun was born in 1993 & Goldenfields Summer Haze was born in 1994 according to the National Palomino show catalogue in 1997 where i got my info ! ha ha Here is the full brother to the above !
Not nearly knowledgeable enough about Palominos to take part in this quiz, despite having owned a couple in the past. Really just wanted to say what a beautiful fairytale horse Silver Fame looks especially in the photo of him being ridden
