My two boys seem to think it's winter already and are in the midst of growing thick coats , so I think I may have to start early with clipping this year. Usually I get the yard owner to do it, but at £40 a go, and with an anticipated 2 or 3 clips this winter for at least one of my boys, and possibly one for the other, I am considering purchasing my own clippers. I only ever do a high trace or blanket clip max, and don't mind taking my time doing a clip, so don't need ultra heavy duty clippers. Would prefer cordless. Have been looking about but there are so many different types. I wondered if anyone could recommend a make/model to me? I am prepared to pay up to £200 if I know I am getting something that will last for years with due care. I am aware that this subject has probably been broached before, but with so many cordless models now available, I'd love opinions on these in particular. Thanks Anne

Two people at my yard have the Wahl Avalon cordless clippers and manage to do full clips on their horses in one go (Both heavyweight cobs). I think the battery pack lasts about 2 1/2 hours when fully charged. |

I bought the Laube cordless and laube sharks tooth trimmer just before xmas, i used them once and they are great, silverdale use them too
Mine came as cordless but i bought xtra blades and the extra battery/mains pack so i pd over 600.00 but that was inc the trimmers that was over 100 the extras was what made mine expensive so look out for that when looking
Mine was used once and had blades sharpened and doubt they will get used again now for some time (nothing but foals due 2008 and no ridden) so im not sure to hang on or let em go but id def not let trimmers go as use weekly and they are highly recommended, i bel laube have a website but dont know if uk or com?
Prev i bought some mains operated ones at 200 and sold them as they was not as sugested:( so i lost a lot of money |

I use Lister showmen and they're brill, not sure you can still get them, but Lister have an updated version which my friend brought last year. She was very pleased with them. I've had mine for about 6 years, and they're still going strong. I've had them serviced once and have the blades sharpened each year. |
