Congratulations to Elizabeth and Andre on their win in the Crabbet Class. Andre is now the third Sceptre offspring to win a Crabbet class this year and knotches Sceptre progeny Crabbet class wins up to 5 overall - something that may take a while to be beaten I think! Andre looked fabulous and after his acheivements in hand went on to take second in the novice ridden, a really proud moment for Elizabeth as Andre is now 14 and had to be completly re-schooled and this was his first year out competing at Arab Shows.
Congratualtions also to Eleanor and Adrian with Lakkana - lovely to meet you all at last. Eleanor handled Lakkana superbly as was rewarded with a second in their amateur class - how did you get on in the Sports horse classes??
Also congratualtions to Gina Hunt with her Sceptre Stallion Crystal Magic, handled by her partner Alan Theobald, Crystal Magic stood 2nd in the Crabbet class to Andre (about time he let someone else win at N&S ) Was 2nd in his Stallion class, reserve male Champion and overall british bred champion - Quite a day!
Well done to everyone who attended and entered, there were some lovely horses there (obviously I have a soft spot for the Essex boys and Girls )
Incidentally Sceptre was again reflected in the results in the form of his Grand-daughter by PHA Silvern Risalm , out of Crystal Bella Donna - Crystal Silvern Aphrodite. owned and bred by Samanatha Mattocks 'Lucy' had some good in hand results but saved the best till last when her mum had finished her stewerding dutys and took her in the sports horse class where she tied for first and was placed 2nd - as was her Dam in her respective class! Well done Sam!

Alicia Nice to meet you, it was a very enjoyable day and it stayed dry until it was time for us to leave. Lakkana came in 4th in the Sports Horse class with 68 points, not sure if that is good or bad as this one is totally new to us, thought we would give it a go. Nice to see the Sceptre crew doing so well, congratulations Gina and to Elizabeth. |

Thanks for submitting Sport Horse results Alicia
It is a very good format to show under, not only because of the quiet, controlled manner in which the horses are assessed but also because of the written score sheet, including comments, received at the end of the class. I thought that the purebred youngstock class contained four lovely horses, all with the temperament & conformation to do a job under saddle. Judging from the response I've had from trying to sell my in hand mare, good ridden arabs are much in demand for a variety of disciplines.
Just a little correction - Sophora was reserve champion I think

Hi Angela,
I only managed to watch a little of the sports horse classes - it had been a long day for me and I had a dog to collect and a long drive to Essex! However they classes did look to have a good format and I totally agree with you that Sports horse classes seem to be a good in-hand assesment of a future ridden horse for youngstock.
I'll mail N&S Committee to confirm as results came from them.
