ME I think.
Have never been to Towerlands for some strange reason, well probably because of the time it takes to get there, I hate travelling
So with malvern cancelled and money burning a hole in my pocket I have decided to get of my backside and get down there.
I am getting a bit excited about it now
Plenty of hotels about if I cant get in braintree theres plenty at Stanstead airport and have decided to fly down from manchester airport to Stanstead, its 50 mins flying opposed to 4 - 5 hrs in a car.

Janet - there are usually only two or three stalls so don't expect the same kind of shopping as Malvern.
UNLESS - they all turn up there because Malvern was cancelled - come on stall/shop holders we have money to spend!!!!!
Another warning for first time Towerlands attendees - the catering is APPALLING. |

...and the hotels and B and Bs are filling up fast. Took me quite a few calls and emails yesterday to get somewhere. Can't we organise for a Takeaway rota ? |

We are going need to catch up with friends and as for the catering how about trying to do something about the awful catering already mentioned why is it that most of these big venues dont have decent caterer's . We have resorted to taking out own food because A its so awful B its bl*****dy expensive. Sue |

Mandy - There is some camping, as far as I know people usually use the fields Where the rings are. It might be wise to call the Show Secretary first to confirm (Mrs E Dunn 0208 7289423)
Emily, Sheena and I will be going to Towerlands - so don't be getting too frazzled at the party on SAturday night. it would be great if you could all come and watch the preliminary Mare ridden judging at 8.30 Sunday Morning - bright eyed and bushy tailed

Just to let you all know there is a new caterer at Towerlands and we've been promised great things - Quick Stop for teas and coffees etc, more staff and an outside booth as well.
Must admit the food I had at HoCoN was great but then maybe I was so hungry at the time I was not fussy.

Food at Towerlands is definitely getting better!!
I went to dressage there on saturday and they had some really nice looking baguettes and huge pizza slices in the new outside hut overlooking the arena. |

Might be best to call Towerlands about camping as normally arranged directly with them

I love going to the show at Towerlands, for me I think I prefer it to Malvern, just cos the atmosphere is so good indoors especially for the stallion classes. I hope you all enjoy it. Hopefully I will get there next year! |

Brenda,
Been around for years I know what you mean lol
I havent booked them yet waiting for Heath get back from Exeter tomorrow and then he is going to book them, When I looked it was about £60 - 70 return from manchester, I looked for going Saturday morning and coming back Sunday and the only flight was leaving manc at 9.30 Saturday morning and returning 4.30 Sunday afternoon, it will be ok for us but might not suit you and mark, Dont know what day you are going try Friday it should have better flight options I should think.
Cant beleive I have never been to Towerlands I think the only reason is the time it takes to get there (I hate travvelling) and probably becuase of Bazz especially the last few years of her life.

Probably going to regret this but if a few of you are flying in and don't mind hanging about a bit we could arrange for transport to/from the show
The local cab firms are quite helpful and last year the cost for a cab was about £35 each way

I couldn't make Malvern this year due to work, although I booked the week off ages before we had a lot of extra work in that week so I had to cancel my holiday.
I never miss Towerlands, it is my birthday present to myself. When the family used to ask me if I wanted to go out for my birthday I always said "I am going out but not with you" so they don't even ask now! I just love Towerlands and over the last few years when it has been truly international (until then we rarely saw a horse not from UK) it is so much better and Towerlands was very scruffy but the new owner must be spending millions on it and it is really improving.
Can't wait, fantastic weekend.
Dean, if you still have any of your books for sale I am very interested.
