Unfortunately I lost one of my beautiful mares foaling 3 weeks ago.
I am now left with a beautiful but lonely foal, I have submitted an advert on the wanted section, but thought I would mention it here too as I desperately need a companion for my foal. I doubt I will find a foster mare as it's late in the season now, but a friendly mare or gelding would help enormously as he is feeding well just very lonely.
If anyone can help please contact me on 07901 555020 I am based in Kent.
Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen, please do not give up on finding a foster mare. We lost a mare two years ago and found a foster mare through the National Foaling Bank. The foster mare had tragically lost her foal through an accident when the foal was six weeks old but it worked. Sally x |

Hi Karen, I am thinking of you as I have experienced exactly what you are. I lost a mare 5 hours after giving birth and could not find a foster mum. I put him with a yearling filly and fed him on the bottle until he was 6 months old. She was great as a foster mum and taught him to be a horse. You do have to be careful that you treat him like a horse, tempting as it is not to.
Rimmy has grown into a fantastic companion and very strong. It was 21 years ago now and we did not have the milk substitutes etc as we have now but he survived. Perhaps someone could lend you a youngster to run with him.
Sorry to sound like a 'dutch uncle' but I feel that if one can help from your own experiences one should do so.
If at any time you would like to contact me my email is Pauline.mackenzie1@ntlworld.com. |

LALIQUE adopted a foal whilst she had a foal on her and brought them both up . might be worth a try with some care. |

Where are you as I may be able to loan you a companion for the foal if you are not too far away?

Yes my mare Aliesha adopted a foal at about 8 weeks after problems with its mother, she already had her own colt foal at foot, she was a superb adopted mother. I would offer her but she's at stud being covered at the moment, she would be ideal. Would be good if you could find a nice kind older mare who's brought up foals before.
Good luck,
