I went to the Classic and in my first class was pulled in first, only to be sent out because my 3yr old was scared of people screaming and cheering when the pure breds run in.I dont think personally he was badly behaved he just ran round me a couple of times, as did two other youngsters in my class, and been as it was an amature class i am a bit gutted, but am pleased as i got 4th in my 2nd class.

Don't you just hate that
I'm glad you were pleased with him and I hope he has recovered from his fright |

Why on earth would your judge send you out because your horse was frightened?? who was the judge? if I were you I would have tried to find out why they did that! |

Sounds very unfair. Poor you, after all that effort. No wonder us amateurs don't want to go showing. Our youngsters have to get used to a bit of clapping... but screaming, banging walls etc is police horse level! |

I do understand how you feel disappointed as my boy HT Orient was pulled in 1st in my Amateur class as well. He was extremely spirited by all the noise and I accept that as he can become quite whizzy. But we also dropped to 4th and when I asked the judge why? was it because of his behaviour she actually said NO! it was because I didn't look at her when I should have and I apparantely missed some direction or other and that was the only reason she moved me down. I was a little confused but hey, Orion had fun and I was proud of him and I also had alot of lovely comments from people I had never met. The next day we went and rode 20 miles up and down the hills of the Lake District and all the disappointment disappeared. I think at the end of the day as long as you are happy with your horse and you enjoyed showing him/her off then thats all that matters as in your own eyes HE IS THE BEST! Oh! and like you also I got a 3rd with him in the Gelding class 4yr old and over. Just enjoy! KOra x |
