Anyone have any idea how to work out the Crabbet percentages.and if there is anything on line to help identify the horses included as Crabbet. and was it any horse that ended up at the Crabbet stud, as aposed to only those bred by Crabbet or at Crabbet. Thanks. after Crabbet % for Istfahan (Aurelian/Istashra) & got it to 75%+, anyone tell me if thats correct or not...Thanks..

Thanks Very Much for you help Bia, was secretly hoping you'd help me out, a pal of mine has ISTFAHAN now and the first thing she said was how can we find out exactly how much crabett he has, she new it was high. So does it count as 100% if the horse was bred at crabbet, & if they bought them in and they arrived at crabett, does Sh.Obeyd's also count if they went to Blunts in Egypt, and those that came to crabbet in England. and thanks for the links will have a good look now. With Istfahan does the percentage drop to 75 abeit it's highter, just for the show class, can you explain that for me please, all very interesting I'm getting quite keen now, could do with some monster size pedigree forms to fit all the breeding on back to 1890's....Thanks Very Much Bia....regards Sue |

Hi Sue,
The first link (above) tells you the definition of 100% Crabbet. Not all Sh. Obeyd horses was Crabbet, only those who was own & bred by the Blunts! About Istfahan, he IS (roughly) 86,99%+ Crabbet, and it's only in the Show catalog that they will print 75%+. They did so in CC 2002, but text can tell his real %. Does your friend know that she needs a %-certificate (or signed letter) to enter the Crabbet Shows?
ps. did you get my e-mail?

Hi All, The Crabbet Organisation stocks a leaflet called Calculating Crabbet Percentages that I wrote which lists all qualifying Crabbet individuals, including those based at the Blunts' home in Egypt and those added by lady Wentworth. It also gives instructions for calculating the percentage itself. Caroline Sussex will send you one for free on receipt of a SAE. Alexia |

Sue, sorry for my bad explanation (poor English)! 'Text' is what's written about the horse in the Show catalogue (sp ?).
Alexia, I would love to have the leaflet, but what is "SAE"?

No problem Bia, my Istfahan pal is delighted with the news of his high percentage and thanks you very much.
Alexia,I've already sent off to Caroline Sussex the Crabbet % leaflet, so hope that won't be too long coming. SAE = Stamped Addressed Envelope. Soon as it arrives I'll give you a brief....
Just about to look at the mares Istfahan is covering at the mo and try to work out their percentage Crabbet....all very interesting.... Thanks a lot Sue |

Hi Bia, Found the links very interesting and the history of the crabbet horses...Don't forget I am here in Shropshire if you need to hold your mare up for any time, before she comes home to you. |

Dot, Maybe you could ask Caroline Sussex that question, and I will as well when I see her next. I sent off for a schedule & the percentage info, but, nothing come yet...no turn around on those... |
