Has anyone got any suggestions as to what to do with a crow we have apart from shooting it! The crow has taken to attacking our cars with its beak. Apart from the noise which wakes everyone up at 5am, it is ruining the cars as making quite a mess on them and marking the paintwork.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Tricia

How about trying a plastic decoy bird - an owl or crow....our neighbouring farmer uses them to keep magpies & crows out of the barn he keeps his vehicles in - he places them in the opening & it really does seem to work! Strange but true |

What is a larson trap?
Good idea Judith about the plastic owl might just try that. The trouble with covering the cars, is that last night he was attacking the horse trailer and he has also had a go a our lorry!! Don't think we would be able to cover everything.

Good luck!
We've found dead crows in our troughs before now...prob trying for a drink & then can't get out & get waterlogged! Once I remember brining Jet in & he was so thirsty....so I went to check the trough & there was a dead crow in it. The next day when we put Jet out (at that time he was in a field by himself) he wouldn't go anywhere near the trough - so we had to put water into a large bucket for him.........this went of for about a week & eventually he plucked up courage to drink from the trough again. I can only conclude that he went to drink & was frightened by a drowning, flapping crow! Poor Arab |

Hi Judith,
Don't think any noises I made would sound the same!!!
However the owl is frightening our starlings. They are dive bombing it at the moment. They are obviously concerned for their babies that are nesting in our stables.

Hi Judith,
Have to thankyou for your solution. I have just watched the crow flying towards its favourite car, Charlotte's black fiesta. It spotted the owl from about 15ft away. It dropped to the ground, took a quick second look and flew away!!

Just read on the EGB forum - seems to be successful.....apart from Davids digger....have you bought another owl?
I think I might invest in one to scare the magpies & crows off from round the barns/stables........

Hi Judith,
Have only got the one owl as that cost me £22! However worth it, but not that bothered about it attacking David's JCB as very old.

Keep us posted as to how it works! I wouldn't have thought to tell you about the decoys - other than seeing that at our neighbours & hearing from them how well they work! |

The owl decoys do seem to work, they have large Eagle Owl decoys in the yard at Crabbet Park to keep the damn pigeons out, never seen a pigeon there since or any other bird come to think of it! Austin. |
