Probably one of the daftest questions I have asked to date but I really have no idea!!
I am after a waterproof fluorescent exercise sheet for these misty damp days. Quite fancy the wrap around variety but would like your comments on whether wrap around is best - most importantly what size do you buy for an arab?
I have a nice waterproof, fleecy lined (not wrap around) for winter that was given to me and I have no idea what size it is - Help?? thanks in advance

Sandie have a look at: http://www.equafleece.co.uk/ProductList.aspx?category=2 - I've got two of their quarter sheets........they really are FAB!!!! Roll up neatly behind the saddle also. They are highly water-resistant - but light & totlly breathable as well - also they stay put. Can't remember the size I ordered now - but I needed the fastenings to the saddle to be in a different place so I could use them with my Ortho-Flex & the company were very helpful. Have had them several years & they still look good!
I've also got several of their tops & they are so comfy & again wear well.
Also had one of their rugs & after several years its still going strong.
I want a doggy jumper for Bella.....but OH says NO!!!

I have a doggy coat for my lurcher and a doggy jumper as pyjamas for the winter! (We don't have central heating). They are really great - the rain just shakes off her coat and dries in a trice. They're obviously very comfortable as she virtually dresses herself at night-time!! |

on dark wet rainy days my black whippet can be seen racing around the garden with all the border terriers chasing him, in his Flourecent Equifleece !!It is brilliant. My Mum has one for her JRTbitch as she gets a sore tummy if it gets wet in the winter.( dog not my MuM) and ...I agree with Judith the quarter sheets are fab, I got my first one cos I needed a non-russle, quiet sheet ...now I would not use anything else. |

Another endorsement for Equafleece! I don't like wrap-around exercise sheets as they seem to move about too much, I have a few 'normal' sheets that go under the saddle and I fold the front corners back under the girth straps, but the quarter sheets that roll up behind the saddle are really handy. |

Hi Sandie, It seems wrap around rain sheets are not as good as they sound. You can't do much with them if it's windy or you don't want them creeping all over you! My pal has one and never used it after the first excursion because it shifted all over the place and was complicated to put on in the first place. I have a Masta quarter sheet which is super for any kind of rain; not heavy in light rain and it has a light (constant or flashing) on the tail guard, although it isn't flourescent. But while looking for the one I have, I came across this site which has all sorts of combinations which might help.

Hi, I would not recommend the wrap around variety either, they never stay put! If you want to know what size your current sheet is simply measure it front to back! Have you thought about getting yourself a pair of light weight waterproof chaps for those misy damp days |

Thanks guys,
Will pass on the wrap around and have a good look on the site you suggest Roseanne. I have a pair of waterproof chaps for winter so looks like a pair of light weight ones are required too, although Im not too bothered about me, more keeping Freddie dry and being seen!
Will have to get myself organised with the measurements too!

I like to have a rain sheet, really for in winter so the horse is still dry to put his turnout rug back on, and I have a lined one for when it's really bitter to keep his loins warm. |

We had some very misty/murky weather the other day and I thought how great it would be for keeping him dry and from a visibility point of view. My winter one isnt fluorescent and very warm.
The saddle is still going well Roseanne! I dropped from the wide to medium wide gullet when I first got it. Freddie has gradually built muscle so we went back to wide and I now have the extra wide gullet fitted. It has probably saved me a fortune over the last 12 months and I am hoping he stays as he is now!! Sandie |

Great Sandie I'm really glad. It's always a risk when you sell a saddle as the buyer can't be totally confident they or the horse like it til they've used it for a while. I'll tell Pauline! She got an Albion with interchangeable panels for Tilly after that for showing and GP, but now she wants a Ryder like mine because it's so comfortable for the rider as well as horse. (see thread on Arabian Horse Saddles). |
