I have always believed that this grass is not found in the UK but having looked on the back of lawn seed boxes I see that it is now put in for lawns. I was just wondering if this would affect pasture when the seeds fly around. Does anyone have this in their fields as obviously it can affect pregnant mares and cause all sorts of problems such as late births and slow milk production? I know they have a big problem with this in the States and have to give Domperidone to counteract these problems.

We seem to have quite a few late mares this year and I just wondered if this could be a reason.

Although we have the tall fescue in this country, it is not the grass itself that causes the problem. It is a fungus that grows in the seeds -not visible unfortunately. However, I believe the fungus does not affect the fescue in this country. There is a quite abit on the net about this but all the cases and studies seem to be in the USA where they keep mares off affected pasturtes for the last 3 months of pregnancy.
