Hello everyone, how you all doing? Was wondering if anyone new my horse before me? i know he came up from Cornwall and i know he has been in the North East for a few years, do any of you own any of his relatives have any baby pics any idea what he might of done before? He can be a little ill tempered which i am told is because he was just left in a field for two years - big waste, i have had him approx 1 month and he is getting better starting to enjoy a fuss! Dont know how to display pics but anyone wants to let me know can give it a go or email??

Hey Barood - welcome to AL! Could you please tell us about his parents/bloodlines so that we can work out if we know any relatives? How old is he?
Reason I'm asking is that my horse has a full brother called Naverone who lives (used to live?) in Cornwall. Might be the same horse? Especially as I hear he can be ill-tempered...unfortunately a family problem...
Noticed that you've just done your first endurance training ride - that's the same level as I'm on - great isn't it Hopefully doing our first novice CR in July... |

Barood, I've just been on allbreedspedigree and if I'm not mistaken your horse is my shah's full brother!!! How long have you had him? Is his stable name Dandy (that's what I was told a couple of years ago)? I tried getting in touch with his owner a while back but never succeeded so if this is the same horse I'm so pleased!! Is he still a stallion or has he been gelded?
Is this him: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/barood+ibn+naverone? If so I think you have the parents slightly wrong. Your Naverone should be by sire Escapade (born 1987) and Bint Alyf (born 1981), both are in the database, you just need to connect your horse to the right ones.
His pedigree should look exactly the same as my Voyajer (stable name Shah): http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/voyajer
Oh, I'm so excited if it is the same horse We have another Escapade horse owner that posts on this forum, he's half brother to ours. Well, a bit more actually as he has Bint Alyf as his grand mother.
You have to tell us more!!! |

Barood Ibn Naverone is not registered in AHR (Datasource)! Are you sure he is registered in AHSB?
He looks great at the picture!!

Few thats a lot to take in - now stick with me i am new at this lines stuff ha ha. Right have his passport in front of me is Barood Ibn Naverone - Sire Naverone (Escapade / Bint Alyf) and Dam Ya Ahbibi (Aswans Seti / Sahara Ahbibi) date of birth 16/03/1997 to miss s j woodward - have the parentage tested cert stud book ref AHSB v20
The lady i bought him from had brougt him up North from cornwall but sold him then found him again and bought him back (was in bad condition) she told me his dad raced or something and that he was from good stock (they all say that though) he is a moody git tho scowles a lot!
What am i gonna do, well sunday was first endurance - 21km loved it so plan on doing more slowly increasing distances but really have not got a clue how endurance works, did 21km in 2hrs 3 mins (approx) time keeper told me is 10.2km per hour and is good first attempt.

Aha, that makes sense. So Barood is Naverone's son, which means he's related a little bit to my shah as shah and naverone are full brothers. Naverone is then still with Janet Woodward in Cornwall as far as I'm aware (if you would like her phone number to see if you can find out more about Barood, ping me an email on tabitaseagrave[at]hotmail[dot]com). He looks very similar to your Barood, snowy white.
The bloodlines on Naverone's side are Crabbet/Russian/Polish and I've got loads of photos of their old ancestors if you're interested. They are good bloodlines, many multichampions and unique horses.
Unfortunately I think the moodiness/scowling runs in the family, shah has a particularly bad past (abuse/neglect/rescue) so he scowls a lot more than other horses but I've heard from several of his daughters that they can be moody too so I guess it runs in the family
It wouldn't surprise me if Naverone was raced as Shah was in the early/mid 90s. Try to get your hands on some race records, maybe if Rozy Rider is reading this she might be able to help? They seem to all be very fast racers and particularly suitable for endurance. Shah's daughters are all doing very well in endurance. Average speed at 10kmp for a first attempt is very good, keep it up! You should try to clock his gallop times, I bet he's very fast...runs in the family too
Oh, and you need to update allbreedspedigree to show the correct Escapade as your horse's grandad on the sire side.
Anything else I can help with let me know. Good luck with endurance, keep us updated with your progress! |

Another thing you might find interesting about your horses breeding/pedigree is that he has the same horse appear twice on both the sire and the dam's side, but, they are listed with different names, Narav Ibn Aswan 1978, is the same horse as Nrav 1978. This horse is the Escapade sire....Shah has all the pictures now of Nrav as we know him, and he was imported for a small time, one or two seasons, by the Beefeater Farms organisation and covered several mares while he was visiting from Germany. Escapade, sired Shah's Voyager & he was busy at stud with Miss Ann Bowditch and produced some lovely horses, before sold on, a few of these I know, and they are doing very well in endurance a couple with Emma Owen. Bright Vesper & Travelling Light. Good Luck with your endurance just take it steady to start..I'll leave you the conversion for your times just in case you hav'nt already got it.... 60 divided by The time taken in Mins.X by the Distance. = Kph or Mph.( depending on what you enter)..
yours would be: 123.5 mins = 2hrs.3 &half mins. time taken to do 21kms. convert that to miles. 21km = 13miles, so you were riding at 6.3MPH, hope thats OK... which is good thats the sort of speed & a bit above to carry on with at the mo...Good Luck,he looks a realy usefull horse and of the same stamp as the others...Travelling Light(Popeye) is a Bay and was out last week at New Forest. Let me know if you want any pictures of Narav Ibn Aswan(or Nrav). there is another posting about this breeding on AL...

WOW THANKS GUYS, is a lot to take in at the mo, never thought i would be able to trace this kind of stuff!! any phot's would be great. Shah its interesting about the moodiness though cos Barood was turned out for 2 yrs cos owners were "scared" of him, but honestly in the few weeks i've had him he is getting loads better actually trots up to me in the field - then scowles of course ha ha!!
Thanks Rozy Rider too the conversions are helpful is something i would love to keep doing just need to get my own transport (am working on it) he is a joy to own at the mo and we getting on good we are of same frame of mind so work well together. |

Mazey, so what happened to Navarone being put to sleep last year, he can't have been that old??? That means my Shah is the oldest of that generation left...and although 17 he's still going very strong. |
