Welcome Jan.
You will find this forum is a wonderful 'think tank' with fabulous members who offer help and advice at the drop of a hat. Everyone is very friendly and approachable.
How is the weather in your part of the world? We woke up to snow lying - not a lot, but enough for our foals to have fun in. We have 10 on our farm, 9 Pure bred Polish Arabs and one Irish Cob who belongs to our groom.
Look forward to reading your next posts, with possibly a picture of Artisan and information on his breeding.

Hi there, Jan!
Welcome aboard!
...some of us are almost "foreigners" too!!
I'm stuck on this rock called Jersey in the middle of the English Channel...although actually, I can see the coast of France....but England is way out of range ~ despite the fact we're British....funny lot we are over here....almost as bad as the Welsh~ in house joke!!!! Anyway, I'm married to a Welshman and have a Welsh mare......so it's only a gentle joke!!!
Looking forward to knowing you better!
Hope you enjoy the Forum!

Hi Jan. Welcome. I'm Sue and at present I'm living in the UK but I'm about to move to Texas in the spring. I'm buying 2 Arabians from Canada when I get over there. Do you know of Jocelyn Pearce? That's where I'm buying them. A mare and a stallion. I breed Crabbet/Old English horses. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello to Jan and bye to Sue, Sue, are you putting all your horses on a plane or are you starting a second stud in Texas, at least you will not have nasty sticky clay ground there like I have in Warwickshire. You will have to get a very big hat and start eating large beef burgers. Best of luck I admire your courage. Heather. |

Hi Jan,
You are more than welcome to join in the 'chats'.... I have not been on here long but I haven't found anyone that 'bites' yet. It's great to be able to have your own opinion without anyone taking offence, nothing worse than having to watch what you say for fear of upsetting someone. I look forward to 'speaking' with you :))
Angel
PS. Had Arabians for 18 years, at the moment I have 3 purebreds and one one the way (due June 10th) :)) |

It's a huge change for me. But then I said when I retire it would be to somewhere hot. You don't get hotter than Texas. I'm starting a stud over there with my horses and 2 more Crabbets coming from Canada. I'm also going to look at a Polish horse that goes back to a lot of Crabbet. She's in Oregan. Told my partner that we could 'pop in' when we were up that way on our way to Canada. Hopefully pick her up on the way back. That trip will probably take a weeks travelling.
Don't think I'll be doing much retiring when I get there but I can play with my horses all day. What bliss!!!!!! Told my partner he would have to learn how to muck out. He has a quarter horse in livery. Nice horse if you like that sort of thing. Give me an Arab any day to ride.

Jan,
we welcome anyone here that shares our passion for horses, especially arabian, anglos, parts, Infact we also enjoy hearing about the companions, and members first horses that might not have had any arab blood. We all have the love of horses in common, so it doesnt matter in the least where anyone lives. Look forward to reading your posts

Sue-texas (quarterhorseville)wow thats great! what part of canada are you comming to?? I am 1 hr from vancouver, 3hrs from seattle (us), if you are near here, we could go for a ride! Have an arab for you, well trained, english or western. Up the mountain to look at the view, that would be so neat! I belong to a group that goes camping/riding in the wilderness, every chance we get! here is a link http://www.bchorsemen.com/ this is our club. lots of pics here, then I can show you without getting in the way on this forum. my friends link (jrj) is there too. He has riddin from canada to mexico & back, as well as from the coast of b.c. to alberta, and has written about it on there. good read! Some parts of texas get REALLY cold. What part will you be going to? I have another internet friend in texas, hes a saddlemaker, lots of them down there.

I am posting shorter separate posts, cause I keep loosing them before I can submit. I'm not that great at computors yet. My horses-coda-now 22, been everywhere in the wilderness. Best mountain riding horse you could have. shes a pinto in color, 1/2 appaloosa, 1/4 arab, 1/4 ???? I have had her for 20 years now. No one else has ever ridden her. Artisan-3 1/2 yo arab gelding. have had him 2 yrs, just getting started. something happened to this horse at a young age, he doesnt trust, so I sent this one to a very experianced trainer for the first 6 weeks, very glad I did, now I have started riding him with her guidance, hes comming along nicely. I think it will take a few more years to gain his trust, don't have it 100% yet, might not ever really. Such a shame, wish I new what made him this way. Phoenix-PMU baby, 7 mos old- bought at the auction for next to nothing. Took my hubby,21 babys there,in 3 diff pens, she was the weakest smallest skinny one in the lot. Hubby wanted to rescue her (glad he did)so I bought her. she has grown 2 hands in 3 months, and is the sweetest thing I have ever met. |

Jan I'm going up to Smithers. I'm already buying 2 from there so I think I will have enough, esp. if I buy the one from Oregan on the back. I'm going to be about 90 miles from Houston on the south west side. Nice and warm only 2 months of winter.

Not for sale! HaHa For you to ride!!! Smithers is quite a bit north of here. are you having them shipped? or trailering them yourself?? We would be an excellent stop over for you as we are 15 min from the border, and a days drive from smithers. Let me know, and i could arrange it for you to lay-over here, even if we don't get to ride. |

If you choose to come for a ride, it is an arab mare, ex endurance horse, goes english & western. She was kicked in the hock, and has recovered, she is sound, just doesnt do 50 milers anymore. I think she is 11. I was thinking, after my last post, if you need help with the border crossing, I can look into it for you.(what you need etc) I have a small tack repair/retail buisness as a side line, and go across the border to pick up stuff all the time. So It would'nt be much trouble at all. |

Not to sure yet about the border crossing. I think it would be better if Jocelyn brought them to the border and we pick them up on the other side. Or something like that. At this present time I need to concentrate on one job at a time. My brain can't cope wih all the stress!!!!!!
