Oh good Sandie - McTimmoney chiro is abso BRILL for horses (& people!) My friend Jane (she lives near us & has 4 Arabs - looks on here - but doesn't post!) is a MTC & shes amazing at treating my horses - we are having/had great results! Most of my neds don't mind having treatment - some react more than others to her. Sly is prone to total over reaction - she can only do movements for dogs on him Its so interesting to see the way a treatment (or course of treatments) alters the way a horse moves & also its demeanor when its free of pain!
Hope Freddie enjoys it! If its for a back prob - I would also suggest that you have a treatment - if she straightens up Freddie - you might need it also....if you see what I mean!
I had some mctimoney on my pony recently- he had a rotated pelvis. we had i think 3 sessions and he has gone from a nutty rushing refusing jumper to a really calm neat little jumper- the differnece is amazing and it was definately the mctimoney as the 1st time we tried to jump after the treatments i was expecting hell and he just popped over them!
I can only say I've had McTimoney on myself and it's fantastic! I think the founder came from my area. It's nice and gentle but effective. Not quite sure about it on horses; I always think their skeletons are so huge and their muscles so strong it's hard to see how anyone could make an impact. But if it has the instant effect it had on me when I put my back out, Freddie will be a happy boy!
I was half cringing to read the replies, concerned that I may have to cancel but obviously not so!!!!
I totally blame you lot on lines for getting me into all this stuff, first the Simple Systems (which didnt work out as I had hoped). Went to an open day last Easter at the local SS supplier and met my NH instructor and saw my first McTimoney demo. Was going to book one during the winter but didnt get round to it and last NH lesson we noticed Freddie moving a little stiff in the hip so that forced the issue. Now I cant wait.
Totally hear what you are saying Judith and funnily enough, I have problems in my left leg and arm and heyho, its Freddie's left side too. I shall say nothing and see what transpires.
Thanks for the comments - mind at rest again.
Sandie
P.S. Judith, I think the vet bed (profleece) has done trick!!
Didnt get to have the McTimoney until today and was surprised with the outcome.
Thought there would be lots to tweak and put right but Freddie was "A" ok except for a bit of stiffness in the saddle area. (my NH instructor picked up that Freddies saddle was too tight on his shoulders last year). She released the stiffness and I cant wait to see how he goes now!! His hip had sorted itself in the meantime and the only comment she could make was that his strides are a little short. I can already feel an improvement in this(since correcting his saddle) so I am sure it will continue. I feel quite sorry that I am not going to notice the big difference some of you suggested but glad overall that he didnt need anything major. Will definately be having a return visit annually!!!
I am training to be a Mctim too, in the first year of my MSc, exams soon Glad everyone believes in it as it is a brilliant treatment for both horse and rider
